This is my secure firewall network and linux file server. Probably the most unique thing about it is the motion detection system. Any movement within about a foot of the controls will trigger a strobe alarm for about 3 seconds. Really it’s not much of a security deterrent, but it is good for freaking out unsuspecting individuals. :D

more pics and info here.

i gotta get me one of those :D

where do you get the alarms?

I got the strobe off ebay, and the motion sensor I got at lowes. It is a canabalized home security motion detector.

I like the mod...

My question is if the switches on the front of the case actually work. Can you use them to power the system on/off? I was looking to do a case mod for my upcoming Doom 3 rig that bares some similarity to some of the things you did here with this mod. I'm still baffled as to how to do buttons like that on my case that will actually work to power on my computer. Where did you get the case/supplies for this, if you don't mind me asking?

Again, sweet mod...

i like the strobe light. i'll have to build one into my server now:D not that anyone would see it go off, but w/e.

Looks great.... wish I had the guts to tear into my case and/or build a new one...

Yes, the switches actually work. I got switch 1 from mcmaster.com and the others from lowes. Radioshack has small switches as well.

1. hard drive power switch. It is a 4P2T (4 pole 2 throw) switch. This is how I switch between smoothwall and clarkconnect

2. Power on switch. You can use any TEMPON (temporary on) switch for this. I shutdown the system with a command from the web browser.

3. Cold cathode power switch. It sits on the ground wire from my cold cathode inverter it is a SPST( single pole single throw) switch.

hey, great mod looks amazing, quick question:

Transparent flames were painted around the four walls of the case to maintain the look of a “firewall”.

So you just painted the flames on plexi or what, and how did you get the fade? Stencil?

It is stained glass spray paint. I got it at a local craft store. I used a stencil that I made to apply it to the lexan.

Nice, that stencil came out great, what material did you use to make the stencil?
