Linux fans everywhere will be saddened to know that the Linux sponsored Indy 500 car was the first to crash and came in dead last in the race.

When the pale blue "Linux car," also known as car #77 from Chastain Motorsports, was the first car to crash in the 91st Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, we can imagine hordes of geeks wishing it had been a "Vista car" instead. Imagine the "blue screen of death" jokes that could have resulted!

It's the driver, not the sponsor. ;) It was a pretty messy Indy 500 anyway.

I hate racing, but I love sports highlights :D.

Watching racing is only tolerable when a sportscaster can distill four hours of circular tail chasing into 45 seconds of highlights and explosions, lol.
Still though, it's hard to tell if this is ironic or not. I'm leaning towards no.

That's because real racing doesn't involve going in circles/ovals over and over and over.... ;)

I've always told people that linux is a good OS but its hard to find good drivers! :p

-Stolen from slashdot site-
"In this timing benchmark, the Tux car was first to complete the race."

Marketing weasel-speak is fun. ^_^

When I read the headline, I was expecting the car's ecu to be running linux, which was what crashed.

I don't know much about indy500. Do they even have ecu's? Purely mechanically carb based?

Bad drivers - the number one Linux crash!!!

Such a perfect opportunity for pun.

lol, first to crash, just like their OS.

I have used many flavors of linux and they are all less stable than windows XP. Anyone who says otherwise is a blind fanboy

Ha! Sweet irony. Maybe if they had put windows on the car the driver might have been able to see better?
