Linux being attacked

Like most things that are worth owning, Computers are an American invention. Look at any modern computer and you will see that the whole thing is the product of American brilliance.

For example, this rugged IBM laptop I am using was designed and built by an American company. It runs software built by Microsoft, one of America's most productive organizations. My computer does everything I could possibly want: I can do my work, submit my taxes and even search the Bible.

Ugh it was like a car accident I couldnt look away from. The best part about the link is the comments. For one thing, it's clearly a hoax website, but they managed to get half the internet to come comment on the pure stupidity of the article- which is actually kind of funny. It makes me want to do the same type of thing, but with a touch of advertising on the page. I don't think I could drop myself to that level though :)

I am both American, AND republican, and I can tell you she is a wacko. Her opinions do not reflect mine. My guess is that her opinions dont reflect most peoples.

Ignore it. She is allowed to express her opinions. Just a vocal minority.

It's a joke folks. Well, I mean it was written as a joke. It has to be. Someone who knows enough about linux to include the SCO comments AND claims to be on "the otherside" of the copyright debate would never have used SCO as a model.

They'd have chosen music and movie industries, which are far more lucrative.

I really don't think it's a joke. If you read down through the comments, she tries to defend her self many times. Her profile also has similar extreme right-wing ramblings.

Jebus! What a crock of shit. She does have some points, although rather dull and incorrect. Osama bin lauden uses linux on his laptop, to bypass dvd copyright? How does she know. Im sure the unibomer used an IBM computer running windows at one time, which means absolutley nothing.

This is Gen-May material. I cant really get into this topic very far without getting banned or having the thread locked :).

I didnt know the USA had any kind of lead in computer technology. Well, nevermind. But I do know that practically nothing is made in the USA anymore. All my comptuer parts were made in taiwon or something of the likes.

From an educational standpoint, this paper would get a big ole F for not having any kind of refereces to back up such bolt statements. Weekly word news wouldnt even touch this with a 10 foot pole. Its crap like this that gives republicans a bad name.
 
i myself, like dubby229, am a republican and american. just reading some of the comments here make me sick of how stupid others can be with saying america is the greatest country ever. there are a lot of things that need to be addressed (and no im not going to promote either party here or any of the OS, games, music, movies, or pc platforms). just saying she is stupid and needs to be educated on computers

Anyone remember that internet article posted years ago about someone talking about all the crap that is bad on a pc... I cant explain it very well, but it was another one of those Pro-Trolls.

Im impressed by people with such creative imaginations, but It sickens me to think that someone may actually beleive these :(. Everyones entitled to their own opinion and free to speak their mind... but in some cases, Im not so sure if that was the best idea.

I read the comments and got ready to read this crazy persons article. I honestly did try but I got to this point "I'm talking about a project called 'Linux', something you may not have encountered, but might do some day." and I just had to stop.

I'm not a smart guy by any means. In fact I was a C student at a community college. With that being said when I can find grammar and punctuation errors in someones blog I just stop reading. It's one thing to have a typo on a forum post but when you write an atricle, even if it is just for a blog it should look respectable.

Aside from that I know people of this mindset very well and I won't waste any time hearing the oppinions of uninformed ranting loons who can't form a coherant sentence.
 
Reading elsewhere on the blog, if it's a hoax, it's a top-to-bottom, very well orchestrated one. That's the trouble with ideas that are this stupid: you can never tell if the person is kidding or not.

I actually couldn't make it past the first paragraph, when she starts off saying Linux is being used by the Europeans to subvert us. Then I jumped to the comments and stopped reading after the first few posts. At least 'rj' was sane.

I am fairly certain it has to be a hoax. The goal is probably to see how many hits and comments they can get.

No one with even the slightest bit of knowledge to know what linux and sco are, not to mention be able to setup a blog account and post a decently formatted article, would say half of the things they are with the thought that they may be true. For example, the comments pointing out that they are hosting the blog on linux, and the humerous responses from the author.

There are a lot of nut jobs out there, crazy right wing religous fanatics, but I can't see any of them having such knowledge on a technology subject and the ability to post it on blogger.

the funny thing is, he/she thinks microsoft is 100% american. sure, the ownership is, but he didnt think of the amount of foreign developers that microsoft employs compared to the amount of american linux developers. none of the computer hardware he has ever used was manufactured in the united states.

bottom line is, if this is a serious blog, the author is so afraid of anything HE PERCEIVES to be anti-american. if you don't agree with his ridiculous trash, you are either lying, misinformed, or just wrong. i love the other brainwashed fools that claim netcraft is lying and falsifying information, as if they are part of the "linux cancer".
