Linksys WMP54G (802.11g PCI) Antenna booster?

I did some googling and couldn't come up with anything... by itself I a get nothing - 24mbps connection. I actually have to have it touching part of my metal desk to reach 54mbps.... VERY unstable, and i want a better connection. Can it be done wireless?

I tried boosting my WRT54G output with the sveasoft firmware but nothing improved so I'm back on linksys firmware.
