ive been trying to use bit-torrent and it lags my connection not because of the bandwidth being used but because of how many connections are open....

are there any routers out there with really nice QOS that can handle 200+ connections to different ip's without it lagging the connection?

i googled around for a few hrs and can find no other solution but to turn one of my computers into a server and have that handle my connection and bit torrent usage...

what client are you using. On some you can specify how many connections you want open and such.

personally I use Azareus

You can tweak just about anything you need too with this client.

ABC is the client i use...

if i limit the amount of connections then bit torrent wont be as useful so that really isnt an option

i will start using netlimiter but i think im just gonna have to get a cheap box to use as a server/router and get rid of my linksys because the linksys just isnt doing it well enough.

thanks guys, gonna use a server...i would try a cisco router but those are way to expensive so i will just convert an older comp that i have into a server..

the upside of doing a server is i will be able to do FAH again (and no more having to alt tab to view aim msg's) :)

the problem with most home routers (including the wrt54g with sveasoft firmware) is that large torrents will crash them. and linksys/dlink and the like arent very fast to fix the issue because torrents = piracy.
