I have one of the first WRT54G's that was released (before 802.11g was officially a standard, it was just a draft) and I have had 0 problems with it. If I remember correctly I think the WMP54Gx is an upgraded model. If you get the linksys you can get some hacked firmware called sveasoft which enables some pretty cool features like, sshd, syslogd, vlan, vpn, and the ability to control the db level of the antennas attached to the unit. Its free and is VERY cool
