Linksys BEFSR81 is slowing down my friends connection, help

My friend has problems getting disconnected from WoW when using his BEFSR81. Also, upload speeds are slow and choppy, and it seems to stop sending packets/choke. The download speed is 40kb/ a sec with the router on or 160 with it off. 1500 is his advertised mbit speed. What is going on here?

We've checked for spyware, viruses, updates for the nec, firmware upgrades, and nothing seems to be working.

If QoS is enabled, try disabling it. Look under "Applications & Gaming" -> QoS. QoS is supposed to help with problems like this, but the implementation on most consumer firewalls leaves a bit to be desired. Sometimes it works great, other times it does just to opposite.
