Do you really need a link that opens a new tab and loads the same page? Maybe im missing another purpose for the link, but it always feels like a guessing game on what to click to get to the content I wanted to see.
 
The link you circled serves a very useful purpose, it's the permalink to that post on HardOCP. If you want to email/share it, having the link to it is required since the front page content changes.

If you want the article in question, it's always the in-text link, and the comments are the comments. It's been the same format for a very long time.
