Ok, I hope I remember all the details....Here it goes.

I have two different systems. Each of them has a ATI video card; one having a Radeon 9500pro and the other a Radeon 9000. I have Sony based trinitron monitors hooked up to each computer (dell p1130 and sony 200es). When I use either computer, I get intermintent horizontal lines that run down the monitor. These lines look like the banding that occurs when a monitor's output is filmed on camera, except they are smaller. Other times, the lines aren't as noticeable, but text and pictures sort of look like they're vibrating. Other times when using my computers, there is no interference at all. This has been going on for quite sometime and I haven't found any solution to it. Here's what I've done to try to eliminate this problem:

1. Disconnected everything from the powersupply except the essentials; video card and hard drive.
2. Used different monitors (eliminating that something maybe wrong with them).
3. Unplugged all electrical devices in the room except the pc and the monitor.
4. Tried different drivers (CAT 4.2, 3.5, 3.1)
5. taken all PCI devices out of the computer, leaving only the AGP video card.
6. Flashed motherboad BIOS, reset defaults, messed with a bunch of BIOS settings, changed aperture, etc.
7. Removed my computer speakers from anywhere near my computers.

Some more points: I have a laptop that's not effected at all, this only happens with Radeon cards (I tried a geforce mx420 and it was fine), it occurs with or without video drivers installed, I have formatted and reloaded the OS, I have tried different surge protectors, tested the outlet for bad ground. I'm sure I've done more but right now I can't remember anything else.

For the love of God, someone please help me!!! A lot of the stuff I've done to try to alleviate this problem is without rhyme or reason because I am at my wits end. Has anyone else had the same problem? I am

I does sound like interference to me, but it sounds like you have done a good job ruling that out. Try moving the computer to another place in the house (like the kitchen table) and seeing if you still get the problem there. Try having the computer and monitior well away from all walls when trying to isolate the problem.

Edits: 1) Or if you really wanna cover all bases, bring it to a friends house and try it there.

2) There are things you can attach to your monitor's cable that will eliminate interference. They just clip over your monitor data cable and help clean up the signal.

3) pull the power supply out of your case (or as far from your video card as you can) and see if that helps.

I know you said you unplugged everything in the room, but from my experience this looks EXACTLY like you ahve a transformer near the screen.

For me the culprit was a halogen lamp with a trnsformer in the base. I got the same exact behavior as you. The times without any interference were during the day. took me about 3 days to figure out what it was.

I forgot to say that I have tried in different rooms in the house (both upstairs and downstairs), but I still have the problems. What really puzzles me is that there is no problem at all when installed the Nvidia card.

Ok, i don't hurt to ask :)
1) Do you have any other kind of magnetic eletronic apparel near?
I do have a 25 in FLAT TV (pal-m) near my monitor, turning it on, makes my monitor to have lines just like u described. My cordless phone does the same (and the monitor on makes it have strange noises).

2) If the two monitor are in the same room, they MUST be in the same refresh for no interference at all.
I have two exact monitor in the same room, if they use different refreshes they "flicker the letters" like u sayd.

3) they can be with a "Flayback" (i think thats how it is spelled) problem, it happens in old monitor, just fixed 2 old monitors, wich had exactly the same problems and both are really fine now.

hope that helps

I don't have anything else near the monitors. The problem occurs whether or not one or two of the monitors are turned on. The Dell monitor that I primarily use (P1130 21" CRT) is only about two months old. Thanks for the suggestions, keep 'em coming.

Did you try removing the PSU and powering up the system with it located as far away as possable?
