Im looking for a program that allows you to limit users actions in WindowsXP.
Not just setting up accts, but it is an actual program that I can not remember the name of.

Anyone got any ideas?

lusrmgr.exe?

I mean, the reason I liked vista and win7 is because its the first time Microsoft has implemented a system by which a regular user can sudo something when they need to (which is often enough that most people just ran as administrator).

There isn't a 3rd party UAC for windows XP is thats what your asking for.

Microsoft expects that if you're running stand-alone machines your not really going to be too interested in managing user policies. If you are, its expected that you have an AD network.

Windows SteadyState maybe

If you have XP Pro you can use gpedit.msc to limit users down. Also make them a Limited User.

+1 for Steady State

Though I believe it is about to be retired by Microsoft.

What are you trying to limit?

this.

moar info.

some things can be limited by just setting the user up as a standard User.
some things can be limited by modifying local group policy.

SteadyState can only limit some things. And yes, Microsoft will be phasing out SteadyState effective 12/31/2010, and no longer support it after 6/30/2011.
