Limited to ~120 KB/sec per download ?

I just got my new internet service today. I ditched Bell Canada for Distributel
NO monthly limit cap , 5Mbits line + VOIP phone. I've got 2 PC side by side in my room and the modem doesn't have any extra port to connect another PC so I used a startec HUB to share my connection with my other PC. Without the HUB I get the full 5Mbits speed but only 1 PC can connect to the internet. When I share the internet using the HUB I get about 3.1 Mbits speed which isn't dramatic, even if it sucks a bit, but the big problem is that I can't get more than 120 KB/sec per single download no matter what. If I download 3 different links like, one from Rapidshare, 1 from megaupload etc.. I can get 120 KB/sec per link until it reaches my ~ 3.1 - 3.5 Mbits.

Any idea? Is it because of my shitty HUB?
 
If the modem has NAT capabilities get a gigabit switch. If not get a good router.
