Ok guys before you jump on me about this, You should know that i did do a search and looked at other threads before i posted this, none of them had an answer for me.

Here's the problem. So im getting the "limited or no connectivity" thing from windows. Trouble is that of the 2 computers i have on the router, the desktop is working fine (no service packs) the laptop has both wireless and 100 base rj45. i tried using both connections to connect to the same router my desktop is on, but to no avail.

I made sure the laptop has DHCP enabled, i tried assigning the router as the default gateway with subnets and IP, still nothing. the laptop says that it is connected at 100 Mbps and 54 Mbps respectively. Im 99.9% sure that the cable is good, and i know for a fact that the wireless is good.

Any ideas?

Thanks in Advance

Ok i got the wireless to work, i forgot that i set the wireless ip range to 2+ the number or ports on the back.

Any ideas on the wired network though?

yes, because the desktop is working fine.

Edit: and just to make sure i just checked my router, and it tells me that it is listed as a DHCP client

I know my laptop, while on battery, will disable the network card and not show that in the network connection screen. Are you on battery when doing this?

nope, im plugged in all the way.

Also, now i cant browse the internet, even though im "connected" i still get the page not found error. also adware SE while apparently aple to tell me that it can get the new def. file from the server, can't actually download it. i tried clearing out the cookies, and the temp files.

wondering if a DNS flush will do the trick. how do I do that?

Open a command prompt type "ipconfig /flushdns" without the quotes.

Can you ping the internal IP of the router over the wired connection. Also, you don't have both the wireless and wired connections up at the same time do you?

thanks.

ok but now when i put the wireless network back on to auto ip mode, it goes back to the limited or no connectivity, cannot acquire ip address.

why?

Ok i flushed the DNS while i still had the Ip assigned, and still get the "server not found" crap.

Anyone?

Ok so i pinged the router on the wired connection with the and it said "destination host unreachable" dont know what that means. im going to google it in a sec, will edit if i figure that out.

And no i do not have both network connections on at the same time. :)

edit: well i googled it and they basically told me what i already knew.

you guys have anymore ideas?

While your plugged in on the wire, type in "IPCONFIG /ALL" in a command prompt and list what it says.

BTW, has this connect ever worked before or is this something that just started happening?
