Lightspeed mounting kits?

I've just bought a Lightspeed LS for my first foray into phasechange. I'm also moving from SocketA to A64 at the same time and haven't yet bought my mobo (waiting for Asus A8N Premium).

My LS arrived with the Socket 478/754/940 mounting kit - obviously I was expecting it to include Socket 939. I rang my supplier and their tech department said it will fit as 939 is compatible with 754. Is this right? I don't want to crush an expensive FX chip

Thanks in advance - and sorry for the blatantly N00b question

LS will fit 939, regardless of what OcUK say (Im guessing you got it from them)

I did buy it from OCUK.

Unfortunately the first Vapo I received from them was demolished - the compressor had come loose and smashed into the side panel causing a big dent. I eventually got a new one with the 754/940 kit and thought I would have to take it back again.

If it definitely does fit 939 as you say then it's all good.
Thanks for the reply!

I think the rig I am building sounds similar to one of yours - Vapo'ed FX-55 with WC for NB and 6800 Ultras in SLI. I'm planning on using the Asus A8N SLI Premium when it's available. Not sure which RAM to go for, as I want 2 x 1Gb sticks.

Am still getting the case and power sorted ATM whilst waiting for the Asus Premium board, the XFX 512Mb 6800 Ultras and waterblocks for same.

Dont go with a8n, dfi nf4 sli all the way, its the best out atm. Gskill LE is nice ram to go with it, could try some VX if u get dfi, since it supports upto 4v on ram, no need for ddr booster. Also, get 4 x 512 chips, since you wont be needing more than 2gb ram in the near future (within the year anyways), and you get better latencies and bandwidth

Going OT slightly for a moment, I posted a question about the memory in this thread and the suggestion seemed to be that 2 x 1Gb was the way to go, due to issues with the NF4 chipset in addressing all the slots simultaneously at 1T or at all. That would limit me to Corsair TwinX PC3200 @ 3-3-3-8 :( . Not sure what the best option is ATM  - 1Gb of fast RAM or 2 gigs with looser timings? I always thought the A64 liked lower latencies so ideally I need gig sticks of VX, which I don't think exist :(

I have no experience with DFI - I've always used Asus in the past so I tend to gravitate towards their stuff. The Premium version of the A8N has quite a few changes to enhance OC'ing from what I read on the [H] so that's quite tempting. I read the reviews of the DFI and it sounds good, but I have seen mention of stability issues in the [H] review. How is yours working out?

[H] stability tests are very rigourous, I doubt you'd undergo them in everday gaming. The reason I suggest 4 x 512 is because you can use 2 x 512 when benching, then move upto 2 gig for everyday use. 1gig chips also tend to stress the memory controller more than the 512s
