Is there any program out there that will let me burn to my lightscribe writer for free. I have the software from HP, but I need a burning suite.

What can you all recommend?

Did you try either of the two applications provided on the LightScribe.com website?

I did, but it seems it only adds templates for the burning software to use. It isn't burning software as far as I can see.

Did I miss something?

i got nero 7 with my drive, and i know for a fact that it works and works well, as i had to lightscribe 50 CD's in the same design for my band's CD launch...

I think we all did. Are you looking for a full burning suite that does data and the labels...or just something to burn the labels, because you already have a burning app, like BurnAware, etc?

I use Easy Media Creator which supports Lightscribe. I couldn't get it to work until I installed the Lightscribe System Software downloaded from the Lightscribe site. My drive wouldn't show up as a print to option until I did. My drive came with Nero Light but I never tried it, I already had EMC 11 installed. I assume the Lightscribe drivers are on the Nero CD somewhere but I couldn't find them so I went to the Lightscribe site.

i never really saw the point of lightscribe permanent marker always works for me
It always makes a great impression when you hand out videos and other materials at a meeting, and they are hand-written in permenant marker. </SARCASM>

Even for family events, it is a nice touch to give out videos or even store your own videos with a nice label, rather than handwritten scrawl.

Even if you're an amazing artist who can create crazy drawings using only Sharpies, you'd have to do it over and over.

lol, my handwriting sucks, sometimes even I can't read it. With the Lightscribe disks I get nice easy to read text and some nice graphics if I want. Plus you don't have Maxell etc plastered all over the disks, just a nice clean surface.

yeh, what i said, i had to do 50+ cd's exactly the same for the CD launch of my band's album, so that we'd have some to sell. its so much easier to do...
