I just got the HP 640i and to me it's pretty damn sweet to be able to burn a label on the disc.

Now if someone will release some Lightscribe DVD blanks.

I was going to buy a lightscribe burner, but you can't get the media anywhere. You can get 5packs at Newegg, and I've even seen them at Wal-Mart, but I am going to wait until the media is all over and I can buy it in a 50 pack before I will buy a LS drive.

I'm really hoping this catches on, as the discs look amazing!

Anyone tried seeing what it will do on regular media?
If you're talking about burning images on them it won't. The LS media have special chemicals on the surface that react when the laser hits them.

You can burn data to any media, just not pretty pictures.

30 pack $15 - http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-130-985&depa=0

Do you need special software that only comes with the burner to be able to make an image on the Lightscribe dics, or is there any freeware that can do it as well.
