light beeping noise when moving mouse

I'm doing some overclocking and I was wondering if anyone else has ever experienced an issue where you move your mouse and you can hear a light beep noise as you move it, but when you stop it goes away. My mouse is USB, motherboard is MSI x58m, CPU is i7 920 and I'm on windows 7 64
 
Whats the source of the noise? Is it from the system itself or is it coming from the speakers?

The most likely cause I can think of is EM interference from the mouse cable or USB interface on the mainboard. Try repositioning the mouse cord and speaker cables. Also try different USB ports on the system.

Also try to isolate the problem by switching to headphones temporarily. This will help determine if the noise is coming from the speakers itself or the sound hardware on the system.
 
I unplugged the speaker system and things still persist.

plugged mouse into the front plug and its just as bad.

Still noisy when I select text and drag or something.

The speakers are pretty close to everything, but wouldn't me shutting them down fix that?
 
This happened to me when I switched my sata settings, in the bios, from IDE. Flashed my bios (for another unrelated issue) and it went away.

I may try flashing the BIOS then.
So you said you put your SATA settings to IDE? What kind of setting is this?

I updated the BIOS and still no change. Same noise. It really seems connected to moving the mouse. So odd.
Also seems to be louder depending on the stress the machine is under? Could be coincidence though.
I did notice that it is different if I move the mouse alone or move it while gripping a window resize.
 
Confirmed: If I have a big text file and try to scroll through it I get even louder noises. If I try to resize the window I get other softer noises.
 
I've experienced this several times in the past:

Make sure your line-in, microphone, and any other unused sound inputs/outputs are muted in your windows volume control. Make sure your internal PC speaker is disabled. This has most often been the problem.

I also once had an LCD monitor that made noise when there was movement on the screen such as scrolling. A quick test of this would be to turn off your monitor and scroll a document (use your scroll wheel since you won't be able to see...). I fixed mine by lowering the brightness settings on the monitor. Less than optimal, but it was better than the noise.
 
I've had similar issues with an older, previous build (Athlon X2). I did everything - unhooked speakers, tried different mouse and keyboard, disconnected all other devices, disabled onboard audio, etc. and it still persisted. Similar to Polydactyl's post, it was most noticeable when scrolling thru pages - got a loud whine sound. In my particular situation, swapping out the PSU (500w Enermax) ended up resolving the issue for me - very wierd :confused:

are you using intergrated sound or a seperate card? i had a problem many years ago where the PCI card was too close to the AGP card and would make noises when i typed or moved the mouse, so i moved the PCI card to the farthest slot and it went away.
 
I had this problem last year. Very high pitched buzzing noise when moving the mouse or resizing windows - seemed louder depending on the load. Swapped out the PSU and no more noise!

Damn, yeah I think that's what I'm settling on too. New PSU.
I'll RMA the Corsair I have and probably buy another one. I haven't had issues with them in the past and their warranty is good so I think I'll just buy another.
