I'm *almost* doing something similar, except I've only printed perhaps 8 photos total, and took a few of them down to turn in with a school project. It looks awesome though, and I might try it myself...

Man, what would I do with a 20x30 poster of just...photos? Make a mossaic that looks like something far away, but up close becomes tons of little photos? Or what?

iPhoto is only available for Macs. If you read through the comments, i think people list alternative programs which can be used under a Windows machine.

remember, if you don't own a Mac, you can't make trendy little photo posters. Keep this in mind when contemplating your next computer purchase....

I don't think anything (other than perhaps some RAM limits at times and $$$ constraints) stops you from putting together ~100 4x3 pictures into a 20x30 inch, 300dpi PhotoShop file (to be saved as JPEG), that you can FTP to a place like WHCC for printing on 20x30 paper.

It may not be as streamlined as iPhoto, but you can get a better deal on the print costs this way, and can do whatever you want in your workflow.

I've printed off a few high-res (vector) Computer Generated logos at my local photo development lab. I also have a resolution test chart that I can render to 1200dpi, but I won't print it since benchmarking a lab's equipment isn't going to earn many friendships... (Plus photopaper only resolves to ~300dpi anyways)

Thanks for your contribution to this topic, whether it was sarcastic or just a harsh comment :p.

However, whether you have a PC or Mac is not totally relevant to this topic. The purpose of the topic was to give photographers a great idea to display their photographs. Once I get take a few more pics i'll attempt to make a poster myself :)
