I fianlly got a 165, ultra - d. I plan to OC. I will start off with 1 hard drive. 1 optical, probably a 6800gt [ I do not game at all, 6800gt wanted for softquadro ]

I wanted something modular or sleeved but it is not a must

All along I planned on geting a Liberty 400 ... Now that I have to buy a psu and case or [ combo ] I was wondering is the 400 Liberty or the 500 SP better, regardless of the price, which is better

Any other psus, or combos you can suggest

I didnt want to spend more than $150 for both psu and case

If it was me I get ENERMAX Noisetaker EG495P-VE on sale at Newegg. Not modular but higher wattage, long cables and every connector I wanted.

jack57...i wouldn't get the enermax you mentioned because of this

"What would you use? My enermax EG565P-VE got maxed out when I upgraded from a 6800 to a 7800GT. When I overclock both the 7800GT to 490/1180 and the 3800 X2 CPU to 2700 my system crashes which didn't happen with the 6800

Because I can overclock the video card and not the cpu or I can overclock the CPu and not the video card.

As for cooling I have big fans, good cooling equipment, the case is open and I monitor my temps.

That and I know my rig really sucks power before I installed the 7800 GT"

The 5xx series enermx makes more power than the 4xx series you mentioned, and if the 5xx series is showing this sign of problems - yikes...

I did check that thead at first they are first comparing $20 power supplies and then the last entry the Power and Cooling unit which is very good. But still the Enermax is far better than the 500SP since I have both. Yes that other person is really overclocking his rig and I also have overclock my rig both on the video and CPU and with five drives including a raptor drive. I do alot of video encoding and do not have a 7800GT card since it it not going to help on video encoding, DVD authoring which takes a lot of resources.
