Liani-Li Case Hardware -- Help!

I've managed to lose one of the door pivots from my Lian-Li manufactuerd Rocketfish case. When I first bought the case I was sure that I'd hate that damn door. Now I can't bear my Rocketfish without it... Where can I get a new one?

(The ruler is metric.)



 
You may want to contact them directly to see if they can help. I was looking for a replacement front panel for a PC-7B and they got back to me within 2-3 days.

How'd you contact them? Did you use this webform? If so what did you put in the fields for company and URL? Both are labeled "Necessary for Inquiry." I can enter none in the company field easily enough but I have no idea what they want in the URL field.
 
Depends on who you get too.

I had hit them up about a year and a half ago looking for a replacement front panel for a late-model chassis. The guy got back to me within a couple days, and said I needed to deal with the guy for this part of the world. He CC'd the email to him also, and the other guy never wrote me back.
 
+1 Hard to get parts from them -- very poor service. - Webform Blows -- > Try Performance PC's
 
Actually, Lian-Li's not so bad these days. I contacted them not long ago and go an immediate response. Anyway, that part any machine shop could easily make for about 20 bucks.
 
I would maybe try and email Hank at Performance-pcs.com. He might have the part you are looking for.
 
a good hardware store may have a selection of pins and studs, there may be something similiar enough to use. or even a piece of metal rod or tubing with a washer or two would work, even a wooden rod w/washers.
 
Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I used the Lian Li webform and also contacted Peformance PC's using their webform. I'll give it a few days and if I don't hear anything I'll try emailing Hank.

HomerSmith: Yea, it seems like this might not even be a custom part. If I only knew the proper name for it...
 
i think that may simply be called a "shouldered pin". I would go look at my local Ace hrdwre store, where they have all the bins of bolts and nuts and clevis pins. they would have a better selection of small parts than the larger chain places. take your other pivot with you to match it up to something from the bins, i know there is something that would work if you can't get a replacement.
 
Hell, start looking through McMaster and Grainger websites. At least you can figure out exactly what it is called even if you don't order from there.

I <3 Mcmaster.com. If they don't have it, you don't need it.
 
I don't think Lian Li will give you parts for the Rocketfish as strictly speaking, it's not a Lian Li, its just an OEM product from their factory. I tried contacting Rocketfish directly once for a replacement screw and they gave me the work around and told me to go through Best Buy. Luckily I found the screw so I didn't have to twist anyone's arm to get it. :mad:

No. I didn't get it yet. I haven't heard from Lian Li or Performance PC's yet either.

I've spent about two hours looking though the websites of "fastener companies." There are more types of little metal fasteners than I ever dreamed of...

I'll try to get out to some hardware stores this week.

That's pretty lame. Mailing out a screw here or there costs next to nothing but it can generate a lot of good will in the enthusiast community.
 
I just asked Lian-Li how to get a new set of hardware for the A05, and they said to call their distributor, JCL.

I live in a big mining town...home of INCO. There's a place called Rastall Nut & Bolt. They have everything imaginable. I bet if you email them they could tell you exactly what it is.

I probably can't ask for Rocketfish parts. Does anyone know which Lian Li branded cases use this same part to support their front door?

Right you are!

McMaster calls these "Shoulder-Style Locating Pins." I'd provide a link but their website uses a 90's style frameset and there's no obvious way to link to specific pages.

This is how to find them: Pin Type > Locating Pin Type > Press-Fit Locating Pin Type > Shoulder-Style Locating Pins.

Thanks to everyone for the excellent ideas and leads! I'll update this thread as each option is explored.

I got a reply from Performance PC's this morning. They forwarded my pics to a guy at Ascent USA and asked if he could order the part.

I've never seen such a quick response to an emailed inquiry. The majority of my emails to fastener companies were bounced by their lame spam filters. I wonder how much business those Barracudas are costing them...

Damn. Ascent USA is asking for a Lian Li case model number. Can anyone help me out? This same part must used in some "genuine" Lian Li cases too.
