Hi everyone,

While unplugging and replugging my mouse (windows 7 doesn't like my Razer for some reason) I noticed a small pricking sensation on my fingertips. Some investigation later I got quite a jolt from the back panel of my case...


What the?!?!?!

Can someone please explain to me why there is a current running through the back plate of my case and more importantly, how I can fix it?
 
This is often a symptom of an ungrounded wall outlet.

Is your Computer plugged into a properly grounded 3 prong outlet?

Nope *smacks forehead* or at least not yet, need to mod the wallsocket for that one, it's in the pipeline though.

Temporarily using a grounded extension cord. The shocks are gone, thanks!

None of the outlets in this house are grounded since the house is so old, and changing the wiring of it is such a hassle. I just went ahead and used a battery backup, even though it's not grounded I haven't noticed any adverse effects.
