pulled the old pc-65b out the closet to use while waiting for new case.... the standoffs wont screw into the mobo tray properly they're all loose..

is there any way to fix this without glueing it ?

this is gonna sound retarded, but i've done it once or twice...

Toothpicks are pretty small, and they're soft wood. I've put the tip of a toothpick in from the back side of the mobo, screwed in the standoff from the other side, and it kind of squished the toothpick into the threads..

Cut the excess toothpick off with some wire cutters.. time to remove the mobo, and they've always came out fine..

worth a shot :)

Are they ALL like that? Make sure you're using the right screw size standoff then... they come in two sizes, 4-40 (cd-rom) and 6-32 (hdd). Check which size screw fits your motherboard, either it'll be loose or won't screw in at all, or a perfect fit. Then compare to your motherboard standoff screws.

yeah all of them apart from a couple... they are the original ones that came with the case too, thats what is weird about it all. i just dont wanna shell out 35 bux for another mobo tray when its not my fault lol.

A trick my old trumpet teacher taught me for my pearls coming unscrewed from the valves was to take CLEAR nail polish and brush it onto the threads of the screw. It holds solid but it's far from impossible to break the bond and unscrew. Should work fantastic for you.

thats a good idea, i just dont want my 300 dollar mobo to come loose from this shitty temp case and break something on it.

will give it a go, thanks :D
