Hi- hope in right forum with this one.

I have a new Lian Li PC71. I have installed evertything, but the Power LED on the front of the case isn't working. I re-checked everything, but still no luck. I am wondering if it is a case problem (do LL's often have trouble with LEDs?), or worse, a MoBo problem. I have a gigabyte 8knxp.

Can I check that its an issue with the case LED by plugging in a power LED conector from my old case- this motherboard had no problem in that case (which was a TT XaserIII).

I'm hoping i haven't shorted anything on my board. Its my first build, and I've been having a few minor probs.

Not sure if this would work but try flipping the cable around. Maybe the +/- are mixed up.

i have the same case, and i'm 99% sure that's the problem. just flip it around.
 
Thanks for the replies, guys. Tried flip, no good. Connected another case power LED, and that worked. Looks like I have to get in touch with the person who sold it to me.

what kind of reply is that, i personally wouldn't make such a big deal out of an led, the trouble of shipping etc. would be a hassle, why not use the one you said worked?
 
If you have a multimeter on hand, you can check out the voltage coming out of the MoBo LED pins. Since another LED works, it could be either 1) a bad LED or 2) the LED isn't getting enough power to light up properly. If you purchased say a blue LED, some MoBos don't provide adequate power to light these up. My old EPoX didn't provide enough juice, but my current Asus does.

Tt Ownage- that is so nice of you to offer. I've just started this building game, and of course run into some probs. The people on help forums have been so helpful- and then you get an offer like this where there is nothing for you to gain, other than to help another person out. Makes me believe in the decency of humankind.

I live in Australia- don't worry about sending me an LED. Its alot of trouble for just a bright light- I'll buy another one.

I think its wonderful of you to offer. Hope someone helps you out when you need it.

Try plugging the connector into other pins. One one of my old motherboards, the HDD activity light had to be connected to something labeled completely different from what it should have been.
