I just purchased a Lian Li PC7-B Plus II from directron.com. When I opened the package tonight, I saw that there was some mesh in the side panel and there was an 80mm rear fan instead of the 120mm that I was expecting. The box the case came in advertised a rear 120mm fan, as well as the description on directron's website, as well as the review of the PC7-B that I read. Any ideas on what might have happened?

I will call them to arrange for an exchange or a refund if all their PC7-B Plus II's are like this... anyone else have a similar experience?

You linked me to the Plus I variant, the one I'm inquiring about is the Plus II.

Now that you mention it, it's weird that the Plus II doesn't show up on Lian Li's website.

Here is directron's website.
http://www.directron.com/pc7bplusii.html

It's also offered by performance-pcs.com: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=104&products_id=2709

Interestingly enough, clicking on the photos for the Plus II shows some shots with a rear 120mm and some shots with an 80mm in the rear.

The box that the case comes in specifically says Plus II and lists 2x 120mm fans. That should be enough to warrant an exchange right? I didn't receive what I ordered.

If thats the case (look, I made a pun!) then yes, they should exchange it.

Don't know where you read that the PC-7's came with 120mm exhaust, even the picture from Lian-Li's website shows only an 80mm fan (scroll down):
http://www.lian-li.com/Product/Chassis/Middle_Tower/Classical_Plus_S/M_C_PS_PC-7plus.htm

The PC-007, however, does use all 120mm fans:

The Plus II version does come with 2x120mm fans and a mesh area in the left side panel over the expansions slots.

I own one. Ordered mine from Newegg in June.

Yeah the PC-7 is supposed to have 2 x 120mm fans. If yours has an 80 in the back and a 120 in the front, you must have gotten a PC-60 by mistake. Is the motherboard tray removable? If it is, you definitely got a PC-60. Send it back and tell them to send you a new one.

No, it was a fixed motherboard tray. I've filled out an RMA request through Directron's website, so we'll see how it goes. According to them, they never opened the box, so it was Lian Li's mistake for putting a Plus I case into a Plus II case.

Oh well, it gave me an opportunity to take a look at the case. The little tray on the bottom is flimsy. The 3.5" drive covers wouldn't stay where they're supposed to. I'm thinking of getting a different case altogether. If only Soldam sold cases here...

not necessarily - the eariler versions of the PC-7 had an 80mm exhaust fan.

the pic above you is the Plus II version which now includes a 120mm exhaust fan

i have a pc-7b plus II that has a 80mm exhaust... and 120mm in the front... why waist your time with RMA, just take your dremmel and cut out a hole for a 120 or a hole saw... I mean arnt you going to mod it anyways?

It's ok, I'm willing to be patient to get what I really want. I doubt I could get it to look as clean as a stock 120mm.

I got the PC-7 when it first came out, not the Plus II version. MIne had a 120mm rear fan, but whatev.

i have a PC-7B Plus. the only reason i got it was for the 120mm intake/exhaust and because i wanted to WC.

Want to trade with my PC-61 Lian Li? I've been looking for that one on Newegg before I bought this but could never find it.

That kid's a noob. I hate Newegg's reviews though, I ordered all my stuff and half of what they said wasn't even true.

'PSU died 2 days later.' - Why? Could've it been your dumb ass who didn't know any thing about it?

lol I'll stop whoring this in a way.

oOoOh so true some of those reviews are full of CRAP!!
I bought my case from Performance-Pc..they take GREAT care of their customers :D
I too have the later model and it looks and works like a charm..with the 120mm fan(Changed to a CoolerMaster Blue LED Fan) in the back.

Decided to RMA for a refund and go for a SilverStone Temjin 03 (black) with the windowed side panel instead =)

Hey, let us know how you like it and post up some pics when you get it. I've considered switching to that case for a while because the steel won't rattle so much and I like the way the front panel looks a bit more like a Praetorian.

I just went with the performance pcs version, 3 140mm fans (intake, exhaust, top) and a 120mm (side panel). Plenty of air moving around that case.

Got pics of the case, MatDef? I'd like to see how they mounted the 140mms.

Here ya go, though right now the case is still empty. :(

I just gotta say I love the job the performance pcs guys did, its incredible.

This guy took way better pics, so his might help you out (same case, my fans are black/metallic while his are blue).

Hope this helps. :)

Huh, correct me if I'm wrong but the front and the rear look like they're still 120mm's?

That's a pretty close fit with the blow hole up top. Larger PSU's might get in the way. Very clean look though.

I just might have to send them my TJ-03's top panel for them to do some work for me.

Yeah they're 140's. If you look closely you'll see they are hooked up to an adapter to the 120mm holes. I've seen those fans before, not sure how good/bad /loud/quiet the 140mm are. I know the aerocool 120mm extreme's are loud, but very effective.

It was expensive, but the quality is just sky high. Plus, you can talk to their lead modder (levell0rd) right here.

Yeah I've been on the fence for a couple weeks on it. I'll be in Central Florida starting next week for 2 weeks so I may pick one up and bring it back with me on the plane (save on shipping).

Course with my luck Al Qaeda will try to blow something up with a computer case and nobody will be able to bring those to airport's anymore. ;) :D

I got my Lian Li PC7 Plus II from Performance-PCs and it came with 2x 120mm fans front and back with an 80mm top blowhole, which I had them mod to a 120mm blowhole. But you definitely should have 2x 120mm fans with that case or it's not really a PC7 Plus II.
