I am upgrading my system to the following:
Q6600 (which I will be OC'ing)
Asus Maximus Formula
2x2GB Corsair XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500
Visiontek HD3870 X2 (a second to come over the summer)
Antec Quattro 1000w

I've upgraded my case to a Lian Li PC-V2100B Plus II to make room for my first water cooling setup. (pic of case here) I would prefer not to have to mod or cut the case in any way.

I read in another thread here that the user was planning on putting in 2 2x120 and 1 3x120, and while I know the case is pretty large, I'm trying to figure out where exactly they fit in. (Going to send him a message and see if he can post new pics, or hopefully he will notice this post ;)

I am looking to put in a 2 loop system, first loop CPU + chipset, second loop the gpu's. For the first loop, is mainly to cool the cpu OC, however if I can manage to cool the chipset that would be great. I don't suppose that there is a way on the maximus formula to cool the chipset (similar to the SE which I could not find) without replacing the whole heat pipe setup. Any suggestions?

For the second loop, I don't plan on really overclocking the cards, but I would like to watercool them just for the noise reduction. Would one loop work for eventually 2 HD3870 X2's?

I plan on purchasing the parts here NCIX, since I want to stay in Canada for custom reasons, and BigFoot is now close unfortunately. (Unless someone can suggest a better Canadian supplier)

I'm assuming you need a way to control the variable speed pumps, so I'd also like some sort of panel that I can mount in a 5.25 which will let me control the pump speed and show me the cpu, case, gpu temps.

Can anyone give me some feed back on how that looks as well as answers to any of the many questions in this post. Thanks in advance for feedback in my first water cooling endeavor.
 
I am assuming that you do not care if the watercooling is all inside the case. I just do not see how to do it with no cutting if you want the radiators inside. I can see how to put 4 single 120 radiators inside the case but you would need to remove the drive rail closest to the front of the case. Maybe let us know what you were thinking of the setup. Outside, inside or a combination.
 
I was actually hoping to have it all internally so I bought a much larger case. I'll check how easy it is to remove the drive rails in my v1100 since they are the same. According to this thread, it is possible to install a 3x120 rad without cutting, but I don't quite see where that would be possible.
 
You would have to talk to Arcygenical. He knows more about this than I do. But from what I read he was talking about the Lian LI cases with mesh on the bottom, which would make it easier to mount a triple.

I think your best bet is to have the case cut and try to copy this case.

I would use a Thermochill PA 120.3. You would be on one loop with heat dissipation upto 600w. Someone correct me if I am wrong on that number. The radiator and fans would take up approx. 90 mm of space vertically into the drive cages. This would leave alot of drive space and room for a 120 or 2 or 3 if you need to add the capacity.

My !st idea for 4 120s would lead to a fustercluck of tubing and a nightmare to do any kind of maintenance.
 
That is an interested setup, would the fact that the radiator is cooling just inside the case make a difference compared to venting outside of the case? Would just the one 120.3 be enough head dissipation for a Q6600 and 2 HD3870X2's?
 
At stock speeds I think so, but I'm not sure what the heat output is of 2 3870x2s. As for cooling difference venting outside of the case the only problem I see is that the heat dump is inside. It would be anyway with air cooling so..... I don't know. Seems no difference to me
 
I do plan on over clocking the cpu, and although I probably won't over clock the gpu's I wouldn't mind having the option if possible.

I suppose if I could find a way to cut a hole in the top and mount a 120.3 there and then optionally a 120.1 at the back that would be sufficient? While there is a lot of space in this case, very little of it has the proper dimensions to mount the rads.
 
Doing some calculations, it looks like this water cooling setup won't be any more quiet than my current setup which I worked out to be at ~50dB. Does anyone have a dB rating for the MCP655? The new power supply is tested between 30-39dB which I should have checked before I ordered it, however I wasn't considering water cooling at the time. I'd like to keep this new rig from sounding like the wind tunnel my current one does.
 
What makes you think it will be 50 dB? Are running some high flow fans like Sunon or Panflos?

If you are looking for a quiet system the MCP655 may not be what you want , unless you get the variable. If you turn it down you loose the head height. You don't need a high flow pump for multiple blocks but one with good head height.
 
I actually do have 2 120mmx38mm Panaflo's , and I calculated the total dbs (approx) for my current system using this formula:

Total = 10*LOG(10^(dB1/10) + 10^(dB2/10) +10^(dB3/10) +10^(dB4/10) +10^(dB5/10) +10^(dB6/10) +10^(dB7/10) +10^(dB8/10) +10^(dB9/10) +10^(dB10/10))

What kind of ideal pump head hight would I be looking for? A water cooling set up would be quieter, the main reason that my new rig would still be loud would be the power supply, as it is tested from 30-39dB, however I could probably replace the fan.
 
The 01 system in my sig rates in at approximately 28dba.

I use a 3.120mm radiator, and another 1.120mm radiator, both with yate loon fans at 6v. The PSU is a corsair HX620, and the pump is an MCP655 set to "3".
 
After taking a really good look ( I really like this project) you will not be able to internally mount any radiator in that case with that MB and those GFX cards. Well maybe a 120 but that would be it.

Ther is no room from the top of the case to the bottom of the MB. The second 3870x2 would be so close to the top of the case its not possible, It is a shame too because I had a great idea until I noticed the clearence issue.

So you don't think I am full of it this was my general idea.

You do not want the radiator with it. You cut the top to fit the tubing and maybe the entire area of the radiator in the top of the case for air flow then your done. Well except for the thousands in hardware you need to fill an almost emty case.

You would need to use 120 x 25 mm fans for this to even come close to working. Also I am not positive about the radiator fitting in the shroud but going by the dimensions it should.

After all that you are back to the clearence on the second GFX card. Will it fit? I don't know but I wish I had the money to find out.
 
I would love to get this rig around 28dba, and I'm sure with these graphics cards, cpu @ OC, power supply on air cooling it will still be upwards of 45dba+.

Yeah now that you mention it, the graphics cards will prevent any rad mounting on the top, or anywhere around the MB except for the 120.1 on the back. When the case arrives next week I'm going to measure and see if I can remove one of the HDD racks and see what I can fit in that area, maybe 2 120.2's horizontally or vertically. If I had more detailed measurements on the inside of the case I could know now.

While I was looking at that FrozenCPU case with the 120.3 rad mounted internally I decided to look around their site. I noticed some CoolIT TEC + WC solutions, and trying to get an idea of the heat dissipation of their different CPU blocks, which should all fit into the 120mm fan mount on the back. CoolIT also has a 3870X2 set of blocks that mount into 2-3 5.25 bays, which I could try to mount underneath after I take out a HDD rack (mainly because the case door would prevent good air flow).

I have a v2000b with a slightly different set up. I have 2 3x120's side by side in the bottom of the case which I gutted. I am about to add a third loop to the top for my chipsets. It is also possible to get a single 120 in the front bottom by replacing the 120mm fan.
 
Well I finally got my hardware in, and upon inspection of the case the lower baffles and hard drive racks easily unscrew. So I have put together an updated list of hardware for my potential water cooling setup. (I will only be cooling the cpu right now with water).

I went through the "spec-ing a waterkit" info here calculating the wattage and flow rate with this equipment, and even with the 350 I should be good.

Did I miss any hardware I would need? Any recommendations on how to mount a rad to the bottom of the case facing out the side? Should I throw some vibration insulation in under the rad as well as the pump (although I read somewhere that the pump can melt rubber).
 
Everything arrived last week for my water cooling, with the only changes being the tube diameter and I did not get the Swiftech micro res, instead a DD fill port mini reservoir, and I added a DDCT-01S.

I've got everything set up and testing for leaks, and I am trying to get all the little air bubbles out of the system. Right now it sounds like a noisy fish tank, mostly from when the bubbles hit the reservoir. Is there any easy way to purge them, or add the distilled water to the fill port without causing so many bubbles? Will they eventually work their way out?

I also have a T connector, turned sideways, so from the top is the fill port, the right is the output from the cpu block, and down is to the pump. I oriented it this way as it worked best with the DDCT-01S top. Could that be causing any problems? I didn't think it would.

I'm really looking forward to getting this all finished, any suggestions on how to get rid of the bubbles and the fish tank noise?

It's going well, I added a Swiftech Micro-res just after the fill port tee to help with the bleeding process and take some pressure off the hose going into the pump. Was running for a week great, absolutely no noise except for the sound of moving air, I have never had a computer that quiet before. I had to check if it was even on a couple times. It was also cooling really well, about 20C idle and 40C after 4 hours of Prime95 on all 4 cores, stock speeds so far.

Yesterday I wanted to close the case up and get it ready for cutting the two 120mm holes and I realized that one of the hoses from the output of the pump curved a little too far out of the case and the side would put pressure on it when closed. I didn't want this as I thought i might eventually lead to a leak at the pump barb. I drained the system and shortened the hose to the correct length. When I filled the system up again and started to bleed it there were a lot of bubbles so I turned the pump on and off to try and work the big ones out. After a couple hours it was still loud, much louder than before so I drained it and filled it again, this time it bled a little better. I let it run overnight and all the bubbles worked their way out but I notice now that I can hear the pump vibrations which I couldn't before. The pump is also making a small high pitched noise which I never noticed before, could that be another sign that it is damaged?

Could I have damaged my pump in some way? I think it is vibrating more than before. I can't see how a shorter hose would cause this and that is the only change in the system. I've got it sitting right now on a pad of Petra gel to cancel out some of the vibrations, but is it safe to leave it just on the gel? I had it elevated so that air could pass underneath and take some of the heat away, which I would like to do again. Should I flush and bleed the system again, or perhaps re-assemble the pump? I'd like to get back to the quiet state it was before I shortened the hose, but I'm more concerned that I might have damaged the pump and it might not be as reliable? Any suggestions?

Other than the pump, the setup is working very well, I should be able to fit another 120x2 radiator in there in the future. I'll post some pictures when all the cables are tied up.
 
Here's a pic of how everything fit in. System is running a little hot right now with the Q6600 @ 3.6, trying to troubleshoot it, see how I can bring it down.
