Anyone have any experience with the Lian Li PC-B20?

What's it like from a quality and noise perspective?

this case is just brand new right? also interested in the case - from a looks point of view, i think its incredible,

very professional, gonna cost a fair bit i'd say from the looks of it
 
Why do they use a 80mm fan when a 120 would fit, or at least dual 80mm fans in the rear, you got that huge area back there with that itty bitty hole, Just don't make sense.
 
It looks like this is too new for anyone to have tried it yet...

im going to check newegg...
 
I'm using the PC-A10 which is a lot like the PC-A20 / PC-B20. the 20 series have a better front panel IMO, but I like the interior layout of the A10 better. Unfortunately they don't sell window panels for these yet, and i hate the rubber molding that comes with window kits
 
I'm also looking for more info on this case, so far the only review i've found is the Bjorn3D one.

It gets high marks there, but I want a little more concrete info than one review before I spend my hard earned cash :)
 
The other thing that has me concerned is if an 8800gtx will fit.

Using the photoshop overlay in the other thread and a side-on view of the case it looks like it would come up right on the border with the drive cage. Could be a tight squeeze... :p
 
I don't think a GTX will fit in that case...


Lian-li have also have a new PC-60 sized case but with 9 5 1/4 inch drive bays in the front which should be comming out soon.
 
I got mine like a few days ago. I like it's silent operation. Not SUPER silent as advertised tho. Problem was with installing my Scythe Ninja Plus. I took out the slideable mobo tray, installed the cards & CPU & Ninja, but had probs putting it back into the case. Had to take the fan out. However, I could "force" the heatsink in, but I don't think it's a good idea. Installing the heatsink inside the casing itself can be tricky. I suggest installing it first before installing the PSU.

Speaking of which, my Tagan Easycon took a little bit of pressure to get it in & a lil paint got scratched off the PSU, but no big worries, since it's barely noticeable, especially since the PSU is blocked off from side view with the aluminum thingy.

This thing has got lots of sound dampening foam all over. Even in places you would not notice immediately once you open the casing. There's lining of em near the top of the inside, on the sides on the front, and a motherload on the side panels, of course.

It's really silent, unless you put your ear out at the back, since I've got 4 fans blowing air out there (I'm including my Geforce & PSU ones since I can hear them loud and clear). Yep, I reversed the Lian-Li CPU cooler fan to exhaust air since I am blowing air towards the back of the case thru the Ninja. But you could hear a lil bit noise on the front tho if you increase the speed of the front fan to "Hi".

My main gripe tho is with installing my DVD drive. Had to open the stupid front, with stupid screwdrivers, which is pretty stupid since at the back, everything is thumbscrewed. But I guess pleasing aesthetics was more important than practicality. Once in the nightmare didn't stop. The tool-free installation could work if I were to install the drive on it's own, but since I also installed Lian-Li's silver bezel (which makes the outer design look a lot nicer and cleaner, you might want to get it too), I had to push the drive back a lil, and lo and behold, I had to use the screwdriver! Again! Woohoo!

Anyhow, I'm really happy with the case.

CONS:
Stupid front drive installation
Front fan can be a lil noisy if set to "Hi"
Swinging door can't be reversed (unless you happy to do lots of screwing and removing and reinstalling some sound dampening rubbers)
8800 GTX WON'T FIT (unless you remove the hard drive tray thingy). My GTS could barely fit in. Actually I'm, not too sure about this, since I had to insert my PCIE power connector to the end of it.

PROS:
Relatively quiet (depends on what you got inside, I guess)
Looks great
Not too heavy by itself (my Tagan pretty much screwed it up)
Nice hard drive slidable thingamajig
It's quite cheap compared to other high-end Lian-Li midtowers
 
Oh yea, I forgot to mention that the Ninja does fit in, but only after I took out Lian-Li's CPU air duct mechanism. Piece of cake to do it tho. But what a waste of good solid aluminum.

The DVD drive installation sounds kinda dumb, but I guess once it's in and looking good you won't be touching it for a while :)
 
Yeah, I've been looking around at the 201's as well. Problem is I don't *need* a full tower for any other reason - I've already got a server box. The system it's replacing is one of the first range of lian-li aluminum models, just slightly larger than a midi-tower.

This machine would really just be gaming - so a max of 3-4 hdd's and a dvd drive would be about it apart from the mobo/video card.
