A couple years ago I built the system in my signature. The motherboard clamp things that came with the LL case were horrible, and as a result of using them, my mobo isn't parallel to the case.

I just got a new monitor, and I have some money to get a better graphics card. But I don't want to install any new hardware until I fix the mobo's alignment with my case.

I've been looking online for standoffs, but what about spacers? Should I go with brass hex standoffs, or would the plastic ones be fine? And has anyone else experienced the awfulness of Lian-Li's metal clamp things?

These are the square metal ones that you push in from the backside of the motherboard tray right? I love those ones. But that's just me.

I found that hex standoffs are available in about any length and in both brass and nylon at electronics parts supplies and real hardware stores. Some have a stud at one end, others have holes at both ends. There are also nylon screws to fit them so you don't need fiber insulating washers.
