FlimFlam, I don't know how you keep the insides so fucking clean.
Man, I always have problems with dust. I guess Lian Li's are dust repellant, too?![]()
A lot of these models and many other cases have air filters. The tj07 does not, but I do a lot of upkeep. I get the GF to clean it.
Hahaha. I couldn't imagine having a girlfriend that would clean my case. Now, mine actually surprised me the other day talking about the horrors of ESD, but I'm too... anal... I guess, to let that happen.
Nontheless, kudos to your better half, she does a damn good job.
Hahahaha... I'm pretty sure your gf doesn't even know what ESD stands for!!!![]()
Electro Static Discharge. Go read a book![]()

Have you ever did a build in one, so nice coming out with no bleeding fingers.

FlimFlam said:Seriously they are top quality.
FlimFlam said:Sure they are a bit overpriced, but this is what protects the innards of your PC.
FlimFlam said:Why people skimp on the case is beyond me.
FlimFlam said:It is the protective shell, and it aids in airflow thermals, etc. Aesthetics are a big thing to since the last thin I want is an eye sore on my desk.
FlimFlam said:With that being said, as people have mentioned they are highly modifiable, customizable, and a great canvas for painting, powder coating, etc.
FlimFlam said:However, while some Lian Li cases are minimalist, or "plain" they have many which are far from convention and downright out of control. I mean c'mon, they are computer cases, what do you want mass produced enclosures to look like?
Most cases follow the normal structure, and it would be bad business for a case maker to deviate far from that so I don't know aht you expect them to be. Sure, there is a market for Alien Head cases, and cases resembling turbine engines but that just starts drifting into bad taste.
FlimFlam said:So basically you are paying for the name a bit the aluminum, anodizing, and the craftsmanship.
FlimFlam said:But something has to be said about the expandability of any case you can put a dremel to, the sheer choices of cases and configurations, the interchangeability of parts, etc.
FlimFlam said:Also, you don't get loud, leaf blower fans in them. They are usually 120mm, low dba/high cfm fans. In the end, you get the finest quality cases out there, and good deals can always be found for them. So that in a nutshell is why Lian Li's are the premier cases along with Silverstone and Soldam (not avail in US), at least IMO.
To put it simply, if you want to pay for form over function (i.e. iAnything), that's what you choosing, not necessarily a better case.
Nope, sure haven't. Although that would go a bit toward seeing the other point of view here. But, I'm pretty sure I have a good grasp on it anyway. I've built in 7 different cases, most of which where made in the last millennium. And I haven't cut any appendage yet. Maybe it's because I take more time with my builds?? Or, maybe if I was building in a $150 case that I would take MORE time, therefore less risk of a cut?![]()
the mothership has landed
although I don't have much room to talk here, my 690 has 2 red 120s up front and 2 more up top![]()
that's true, but even as good as they are, they are still hard to justify the price point
a powmax can do that
what percentage of people put their mid size towers ON their desk? But, then we're only back to justifying price.
, so are cooler masters, and rosewills for that matter.
Now I'm confused, is it mass produced normal structures? Or, is it a case that's worth $100+.
BINGO!!1! give the man a cookie
fixed
With some few cent rubber grommits my apevia 120MMs are quiet as well, you just have to get the metal or plastic out of the way of air flow. My CM was $30 after MIR, doubt that's ever going to be seen on a Lian Li, even a rebadged one.
No shit.I wasn't meaning to cut Lain Li down here, but I'm just wired to be blunt.
To put it simply, if you want to pay for form over function (i.e. iAnything), that's what you choosing, not necessarily a better case. Some people, like me, choose it the other way around. I want a case full of holes, so I can load it up with fans, and make it a mini-frig.
Well, there are *lots* of reasons that make Lian-Li cases better than most, other than Aesthetics...
They're always well engineered. Take the PC-V series... 3mm thick side panels, a wicked locking system for them, nice compartmentalized interior, all held together with screws... etc.
Two years ago, I was *so* against paying more than 150$ for a case... but when I got my Lian-Li, I've never gone back! These things are absolutely gorgeous inside and out, with incredible modability, and stability...
However, there are a lot of ingenious cases out there, some that exceed Lian's too, so it's really a mixed bag.
