LG3 photos rumor

LG G3 is on my very short list of phones I'm looking to upgrade to. As much as I was sorely tempted, I held off getting either the M8 or S5 because neither checked off all of my wish list items. I'm hoping either the Lg G3 or the mythical S5 prime which is now being rumored more and more will fit the bill.

The G2 last year was a fantastic and very underrated phone. I'm looking forward to seeing what Lg brings around this time.

With Knock on/off I hardly ever use back buttons. I think LG made the right call.

I hope Verizon gets it and doesn't modify the design like they did with their G2 variant.

I dislike CDMA carriers but my grandfathered unlimited data makes it barely worth it. :p

I have the Verizon G2. IMO wireless charging was worth the changes they made. Another advantage is its unlocked for other gsm carriers unlike Sprint's model.

Display announced - http://www.droid-life.com/2014/05/07/lg-g3-qhd-display/

Insanely small bezel - 1.15mm

If the rumors are true;

- QHD display
- 3,200mAh battery
- Snapdragon 805

The G3 will be a super beast smartphone, making the new S5 and M8 look like last years models.

The 805 Processor is a major upgrade, that thing is crazy fast, but also super efficient and excellent for battery life. And I am curious to see how crisp that QHD display.

Will the G3 be waterproof ?

I almost bought a G2 last month but saw some rumors of the G3 for late May/June/July release so I decided to hold off. This is getting gud

The G2 is somewhat of a secret. IMO its the best phone of 2013/early 2014, yet few people know about it, as a result it was really cheap compared to other flagships. Yet it has easily the best performance, specs, a decent oem skin, and on top of that was easy to root/unlock. Can't really ask for more.

LG is doing everything right.

When the G3 comes out loads of people will be dumping their G2's, and its a perfect phone to buy used.

If so...This might be my Note2 replacement.

Also rumors of sd card (not just in Korean version) and replaceable battery (that one I'm not sure about). 2 variants - 2GB/16GB and 3/32 (ROM and RAM).

With the HTC One Max/Prime (2014) is rumored to be these specs (with a 18 MP Depth / 5 MP UP duo camera), I suppose the decision would now be harder especially if HTC get rid of that logo bezel.

LOL at the 'Don't settle' BS from the One+ One guys

Looks like LG didn't settle either :p Their G3 will actually be out in the public before the One+, and have better newer specs;

- G3 has the brand new Snapdragon 805, not the old 801 on the One+
- G3 has the super high res QHD display, and is also 5.5"
- G3 has a larger battery than the One+

And LG phones have always sold the cheapest off contract compared to the flagships from Samsung, Apple, and HTC.

Gee, how much are we forgetting?

The G3 will also cost 2X as much off contract for 32GB as the 1+1 does for 64GB.

Both great devices...but one of them is actually aiming for price/performance...where the other is a performance flagship and priced as such.

Yeah, you can't really compare a $300-350 phone with a $500-700 flagship. Also the software experience on the One+ is pure Google with CM enhancements, and will obviously get much faster updates. That counts.

The 805 won't be more efficient than the 801, but it will be a good deal graphically more powerful.

I have the G2 and it is really nice but just do not like the back volume buttons and power button

I <3 my G2 unl vzw data 4g lte tethered to my laptop = true fun (my daily driver for when i'm away from home aka most of the time)

Once you get used to knock on/off and mod your media players to have touch screen scrolling for volume/brightness you will never use the back of the phone.

I am trying to remember the last time I used my back buttons... classic

I am shocked how bad ass the specs are in this phone. For only being released like two months after Samsung's and HTC's flagship phones, the G3 is like another generation ahead, specs wise better in all major categories.

But of the three, I still like Sense 6 UI, very happy with my M8. But this G3 might be the sleeper hit of the year.

But still, this G3 makes the S5 and M8 look like last years models already. Funny how only two months alter a new flagship can far surpass phone that were just released. Hardware wise I don't think there is another better coming out the rest of the year ? I mean the Snapdragon 805 is the king of the hill, far better than the 801, and won't be replaced until 2015 with the S6 and M9 running the Snapdragon 1000, so this G3 will rain supreme for quite a long while.

What was Samsung and HTC smoking not waiting just a bit longer to get the 805 in their phones ? In the grand scheme of things, Samsung will still sell millions of S5's if it was released in June instead of April, but having better hardware will make it more 'futureproof', oh well.

Saying all of that, I am very curious to see the battery life of this G3 beast. I know the Snapdragon 805 is top dog, and very efficient too, but still it does take more power to run than the 801, plus the QHD display on the G3 can't be easy on battery either, but the G3 is packing a large 3,200mAh battery, so maybe it's a wash and will be great on battery life the G2, or the super high res screen and 805 will eat up more battery life, making the G3 a little less battery friendly than the G2 ?

Hopefully LG sinks a load of money into marketing Samsung style and make itself a true competitor.

Question is what Samsung has up their sleeves for Note 3...not that it matters much I'm done with Sammy and their Knox bullshit. Hopefully G3 gets a sweet community going.

I think you mean note 4 and the OEMs dictate software such as Knox, if your phone is popular enough, they will ask for it, if they don't good luck getting your phone sold.

Also Knox doesn't do anything to your phone other than let the OEMs know if you rooted or not, it won't break anything.

I absolutely LOVE my G2 and was one of the early adopters having picked it up on day 1 from TMo. I've been able to get my Jump upgrade for weeks now, and could get an S5 with no money down, but I've been waiting for an actual upgrade, and as much as I love my G2 I'll be very tempted to get a G3.

Yea I meant Note 4

But yes it can break things. Knox combined with the locked bootloader certain carriers order, forbid CyanogenMod or anyother non-stock-base firmware (gag), or anything that requires a custom kernel. I'm voting with my wallet and going elsewhere.

5.5" screen is a dealbreaker, the phone just becomes too large, it will need to be substantially larger than the G2.

I am currently considering the G2 instead of the S5 just because the G2 is somewhat smaller, is now free on 2-year contract (vs. $99 for the S5), and the only thing I use my phone for other than calling is email, maps when driving somewhere unknown, and occasional RDP.

EDIT: Looks like the G2 is ~$320 new unlocked on ebay, that may actually be an even better deal.

I just got the G2 last week and i'm loving it, fantastic phone (my wife got one too). I looked at the S5 and the HTC M8 but I wasn't jazzed about paying the $149 or $199 per phone on contract to upgrade.

The G2 was free with a new contract and specs matched up very closely to the flagships that have just came out. I don't regret my decision in the slightest. The battery life on my G2 is amazing, to me that's one of the biggest upgrades from my HTC One X.

Sounds like a beast of a phone for sure. It will be interesting to see if the crazy screen is worth it though. I mean at home my monitor is only 1440p, as 4k would be too high for my machine to handle any games at that resolution anyways. For me it seems like 1080 is already over kill on a 5" or even a 8" screen so it will be interesting to see how much difference the resolution will make without examining the screen with a magnifying glass. I'm Looking forward to see what that resolution will really buy you on a phone. For me the ability to read the screen outside is more important, but I still can't wait to see it.

Will this phone finally have an external memory card slot? The G2 looked like an excellent phone to me, but the lack of SD card slot killed it for me.

You know LG released the Isai FL in Japan which may end being very similar to the newly coming G3. Last year's Isai matched almost identically to the G2. With this years Isai, LG shrank the top bezel to go along with the almost non-exist side bezels. The result? The Isai is actually shorter than the HTC M8 even though it has a 5.5' screen versus the M8's only 5' screen.

So in theory, the G3 may actually feel a lot smaller than say, something like the Note 2, even though they both have the same size screen. I appreciate LG for trying new things with the screen bezels.

And really, you eliminated the S5 because it felt larger than the G2? Look at the specs. They're virtually identical in size. The G2 is actually fatter in fact.

Promising phone that is ruined by the screen size. I am waiting for more high end 4,3"-4,5" phones. Currently I have Galaxy S and Lumia 920 and I have to say that the size of Galaxy S is near perfect. They should be able to put at least 4,3" screen in Galaxy S dimensions easily these days. 920 is tad bit too wide and tall (top bezel is okay but bottom is not). For 4,5" something like 1366x768 could be really sweet resolution if phone maker wants to be little different than the rest (though 1280x720/768 would look good too).

Oh well... I have some time left before my 24kk deal ends. I have had good luck with nice combo deals before but at the moment it looks rather bleak. All those mini versions are hardly high end save Z1 Compact.

And thats why thin bezels are so important as we are hitting the point where phones become too large. I don't think I would trade more screen estate for the HTC's speakers though, but it would have been nice if they didn't have that wasted logo area for sure, and thinner bezel in general. I actually like having a little dead are on the top and bottom of the phone, gives me something to hold the phone by when playing CoC, but the dead area on the M8 (not the speaker area) is certainly one of the first things people notice when comparing it to other phones. My Dad is always grabbing his S5 where the touch buttons are hidden and accidentally hitting them, I even caught myself doing that a few times.

If only LG would add that exteral SD card slot so I could toss a 128GB micro SD in there.. I also don't like having all my data inside the phone in case I break it or take it for a swim etc removable cards will usually survive those things.

I just got a G2 a few weeks ago and I love it. Had the optimus G before that and it was a great phone. I don't care about the button placement on the G2--it's neither good nor bad for me, but I do like that I don't accidentally hit the power button when holding my phone by the edges. But elsewise, it's a great phone, though I'd be concerned about the usability of the rear buttons as they appear on the photos; the last they they would benefit from is being less obvious to find.

And I, for one, am a huge fan of LG's UI. I like it so much more than vanilla android. But to each their own.

I just wish there wasn't this dumb push to absurd screen resolutions (as rumored in the spec's). But I get that you need to have a bragging point, and otherwise, the hardware has been so far ahead of the software and services for a while, you can't really brag about having a quad core, or a good GPU since those things are so ubiquitous now.

My G2 is the best phone I've used, including Nexus.

And rumors are LG is adding sd card back in G3, it was already present in the Korean G2 model. As for screen resolution, remember they are building new panels and they have to market them to others as well. Its hard to sell something without any new features.

The spec race is way past me caring, phones have been good enough for me for a long time

I thought that the Isai is just a G2 in a waterproof shell?
The Japanese phones will not work on AT&T or will they? The disclaimers say that it won't work on CDMA, but AT&T is GSM so they should work? Looks like the LTE bands are the issue though with the Isai showing LTE 900 whereas ATT is using LTE 850?

And really, you eliminated the S5 because it felt larger than the G2? Look at the specs. They're virtually identical in size. The G2 is actually fatter in fact.

Wasn't so much the size per se as it was that the G2 has the larger screen in a slightly smaller shell, also the G2 is free with contract. The promo access I had for the S5 expired yesterday so now the S5 would is $199 on contract (ATT). I need two phones, so that's $400 vs $0 for the G2.

Haven't pulled the trigger on the G2 yet, but it's likely going to happen unless there's some amazing S5 promo.

What do you guys think of LG's new teaser trailer for the G3? I take a few things away from this. Obviously the camera will have OIS but that's really not that big a deal since the G2 had it as well. My biggest take away? I think this thing might actually be some kind of metal. Previously I assumed from the "leaked" photos that the phone would be some kind of polycarbonate with a faked "brushed" aluminum look. But from the teaser, they are emphasizing metallic gears and surfaces so much that it leads me to suspect that the thing may actually be an upgraded "premium" material (whatever the hell that means these days). Anyways, it's very interesting.

I'm going to be upgrading from a Note 2 in short order and the G3 is a very possible upgrade for me. Keep the same screen size but shrink down the phone considerably? Yes please!!

Anyway, we'll find out for sure on the material on the 27th. But yeah, 805 processor, 16megapixel camera with OIS, 32gb with SD card (rumored), 2k screen, 3gb ram, 3200mah battery(??), possible aluminum build quality? Oh and by far the smallest physical dimensions for a 5.5' screen? Yup, you have my interest LG.

S5 who? M8 who?
