ok, I've got the stated above phone, and an HDMI cable I picked up off of amazon..

The phone recognizes the HDMI out, but the TV doesn't. is there something I should do to make it recognize it? the HDMI ports work on the TV and the phone is set to 'automatic' on resolution.

confused, and new to this.

It doesn't need to be. Did you switch to the HDMI input on the TV?

that's the first step to trouble shooting...

both HDMI ports don't play the video. what are the chances of a bad HDMI cable?

hmm, I believe there is a setting in the settings menu for mirroring but I only used it once just to try it out. I can't remember if it was 720P or 1080P but it did work and I played Angry Birds and one racing game.

it automatically picks up the signal to the TV.. I think it might be a cable issue :/
