LG E2770V-BF question

As the title would suggest, today I got my brand new LG E2770V-BF. I looked at some youtube videos of various other LCD monitors and some videos mentioned that I would need a DVI cable with ALL the pins to get proper 1080p. This monitor came with a standard DVI cable, and so far picture looks ok, although when watching 720p or 1080p MKV's it just doesn't look right. I'm not blown away by this monitor and I'm wondering if its to do with this cable.

SO my question, is it true about all pins for the best picture?
Also, does anyone know where I can get optimal settings for this monitor so I can get the best picture? At the moment I'm running on default settings out the box.
