LG 226WT Questions

I just switched from the Viewsonic VX2235 to the LG L226WT. While I was happy with the Viewsonic when I saw the LG demonstrated I was floored by the difference in color between what the Viewsonic was giving me and what the LG delivered. I am now in love with the LG but I have a few questions.

1) What is the difference between the LG 226WT-BF and the LG 226WTX-BF? I can not seem to find the difference in specs.
2) What is the real response time of the LG 226WT-BF monitor? I see specs showing 2ms and I also see specs showing 5 ms.
3) What is the EZ Zooming button for? I know from what I have read pressing this button is supposed to drop it down to the next video setting (1660x1050 to 1024x1280) and then another press brings it back the original setting. Try as I may I can not figure out how to get this to work. I am using a DVI cable to my EVGA Nvidia 8800GTX video card and I have tried all different settings in the Nvidia control panel and I still can not get this to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am using the 97.02 Nvidia drivers.

Sorry i can't answer your questions but i have a question myself.

Does the LG outperform the more expensive Viewsonic 2235 in every way?

I have owned both the Viewsonic and the LG, and aside from the issues I'm having with the analog connection (and the fact that the Viewsonic comes with DVI, and LG doesn't.. :().. aside from those issues, I think the picture quality on the LG is leaps and bounds above the Viewsonic. I got backlight bleed on the Viewsonic, but it's a nice clean background on the LG. Plus the colors are much more vibrant. :D

Thank you for the comparison. So, the LG 226 doesn't have a DVI connection...
I think i'll go for either the Samsung 206 or 226; both should be superior to the Viewsonic 2235 and LG 226, right?

The LG does have a DVI connection, but it doesn't come with a DVI Cable, which IMO any monitor over $250 should include a DVI Cable. They aren't THAT expensive.

Either way, you can't go wrong with a Samsung. I love my LG, but that could change if I tried one of the newer Samsung 22"ers.

No DVI cable; eh... i think i'll forget about getting the LG, then. With your LG, you said there isn't much backlight bleed, but i though, from what i've read, backlight bleed is pretty bad on that monitor- even more so than the Samsung 226BW.

Well, I haven't had any experience with the 226BW. The LG model that I have has VERY little bleeding. It's literally next to none. At least compared to other LCD's that I've used.. like the Viewsonic VX2235WM.

i'm currious for more info as well. i bought a samsung 226BW last week and as a die-hard CRT gamer i can't get used to the thing. whats more, for over $500CAN with taxes ($450 before) i shouldn't have to as far as i'm concerned. it should wow me right out of the box.

although i find backlight bleeding nil on the 226BW and NO dead pixels, the backlighting isn't even. its consideribly darker at the top than the bottom. if its a dud unit, the entire stock at FS is dud because i've already exchanged it. i'm also having a hard time adjusting to the loss of conrast range, but i think i could handle that if this goddamn lighting was even! try playing oblivion at night! most of it is fine, but there's a good 1" band near the top that you can hardly see. call me picky, but thats completely unacceptable for $500.

i'm thinking of plugging my 17" CRT back in or finding a good used 20" CRT (or larger) at this point. very depressing since i originally got SLI to handle widescreen resolutions with AA and AF on....it goes to waste at 1024x768.

so please, bring the opinions on.

If you're unhappy with TN panels, I believe Acer and NEC have alternatives- MVA and S-IPS respectively, i believe.
