Hello
Reposting since the other thread went a bit off

I've been searching for quite some time for the ideal display for my setup. I got three main tasks i use the computer for, School work, gaming and movies. My previous screen was the BenQ V2400W so my standards are therefor based on that, i was satisfied with almost everything about it (input lag, response, ghosting and so on)

So the screens im currently deciding on is between
Dell U2311H / HP ZR24w (IPS)
BenQ XL2410T (120 Hz TN)
Eizo FS2331 (VA)

Out the the three the Eizo and BenQ are the most expensive, and currently where my max budget is unless someone can recommend an outstanding monitor that'll be worth considering.

(Games i play are WoW, games like fallout and mass effect, also starcraft 2) viewing angles are not a concern since im always sitting in front, also i DONT do photo editing

Well, first of all, viewing angles are always a concern because you will be sitting directly in front of the monitor.

As for the models you mentioned, the TN isn't competitive. The U2311 is fairly good, but the unit I sampled had very poor uniformity. It effectively had lower image performance than my 2209WA.

I have the EV2333W which is the photo/CAD brother of the FS2331. The excellent contrast and factory gamma adjustment make it my preference for games and movies. Even then, I am probably wasting the monitor's performance by not editing photos on it. The only criticism I can find for it is the image stability relative to IPS.

What is image stability?

So you would recommend the FS2331 for movies and games?

I am referring to the gamma shift effect where the sides of the monitor are slightly lighter in colour than the center area. If Eizo has adjusted the gamma in the factory for the FS2331, then you can expect excellent contrast and accuracy. The limitations will be response time and gamma shift.

Well i have no idea of how response time and ghosting are going to effect me, honestly i never really knew what i ment until some time ago. My only reference as a monitor is my dead BenQ V2400W.

Do you know how the response time are compared to that monitor?

flatpanels seem to be quite fond of the screen with a few negatives, but better than TN. I've never had experience with better panels than TN, and i have been satisfied with that, so im not the most demanding user, but im looking for a wow effect here that wont dissapoint in several areas.

Eizo Foris FS2331 will trump any other monitor for mult imedia right now in terms of picture/color quality, sceen uniformity and contrast. While not the fastest it has the best black level(66% deeper then pretty much any monitor). You also don't have to worry about getting a tinted panel, which is pretty much gaurenteed with the Dell U2311H.

You can see how the BenQ's response time and contrast compared to one of the better 60hz TN's here

Thanks that really useful information :) So i guess The Eizo might be the one meeting my requirements the most within my pricerange?
Do you think it would be possible to play a FPS game on the monitor without severe input lag/response time?

Input lag is only 10ms, anything under 20ms won't be noticeable to 90% of people.

If you were fine with the BenQ's response time the Eizo will be a huge improvement, the picture quality alone will blow you away.

Thanks, exactly what im looking for then :)
Just a last question, since my main focus is games, which primary are like World of Warcraft, Starcraft, Call of Duty and stuff like that, do you think i would be in awe sometime that i didn't jump on the 120 Hz boat, or is the difference less noticeable than peoples make it sound?

I never actually gamed on anything higher than 60 or 75 hz, so i dont really know the effect the 120 Hz gives.

None of the 120hz monitors will offer nearly as good PQ as the Eizo, their contrast peaks @ around 900:1 while the Eizo can easily do 3000:1. They will only look a bit better then your BenQ, and they will also have backlight bleed.

If you're fine with the BenQ for gaming now a 120hz panel will be pointless, their Picture Quality will only a bit better then the BenQ. IMO they aren't worth it unless you're coming from a CRT or a hard core gamer.

Okay thanks a lot, really great help you given :) Think im about as set as i can be. Unless you or someone else says "This screen is so much better" haha :)

Well thanks you made it much easier for me, too bad the display isnt in stock anywhere at this moment

**Edit**

Nevermind, seems like its going to end up costing 50 euro more ordering directly from them, ill just wait till they come back in stock home here. Thanks though didnt know i could order directly from eizo
