Noticed this myself. My FiOS connection was down today for about 15mins, couldn't figure out why... Now I know.

Heads will roll over this, I'm sure. Apparently they had an internal failure earlier in the day at 9am EST, and then their downstream customers had a failure around 2:30pm EST. Seems to be reported as a Juniper bug with BGP updates.

wow BGP bugs! not good as that what these routers are really supposed to do.

I have never needed BGP but have used OSPF
 
This was super annoying for us as well, only because L3 shit itself.

BGP was taking a shit all over the network today.
 
Could this cause the FiOS TV service to go out? We had problems with it this afternoon... every channel said "requires subscription".

Nope, TV service was fine. I believe this may have only been since FiOS TV is not IPTV.
 
No idea. The bug report notes this as a Low risk bug, so maybe the carriers felt that the software update wasn't necessary to apply at the time.
