I'm getting ready to hook my gaming PC to my new HDTV 30" Wide Screen CRT via DVI.

What are some good serfing and windows boot up res's to use and will my games look ok on it? And what some good res's that my card can handle?

BTW the card i'm using is a OC'd Leadtek 6800GT AGP

I'm not upgrading till this coming Summer or Spring.

See sig for complete rig details.

Thanks in advance to all

Your 720p display will be limited to a max of 1280x720, unless it's actually a 1080i display, in which case, you're going to need some muscle.

Games will look GOOD. You're not going to need anything terribly fast to drive anything at that resolution, so don't sweat it.

Yeah, I have my HTPC (some gaming) hooked up to my 46" DLP at 720P. It looks awesome. Media Center Edition is great as well.

It will accept those signals, but I think the Native Res would be 1280 by 720...anything above that will be lost.

One more question, Is there anything special I need to do to get this to work, any threads on here to read, Ive got all my stuff ordered, I want this to go smooth, not one big pain in the ass.

Everything sounds like it should run smoothly.

If you have a 1080p display and you bring the power go for 1920*1080 then. Would be tough for CoD2 or FEAR, but we don't know what you are playing. HL2 and such go ahead if you can. Depending on the game, you may have to change a config file if you can't find the res in the menus.

www.widescreengamingforum.com is going to be your best friend for this. Regardless if you go 720p or 1080p.

Not really. 1080i is only about 10% more pixels than 720p.

also 1080i means 1920x1080 interlaced so the text will be kinda crappy. also 1080i/p might not display more that 24-29 fps. Check your specs.

Ok I got it hooked up via a DVI cable and my texts looks blurry and washed out and the only res's it give me to pick from is 800x600 and 1024x768, do I need a driver update? I'll be honest I'm still running 66.93's on that box (admitting that is going to hurt lol)

Thanks for all the help.

Yeah, in the new drivers, HDTV support is much better. You can force those resolutions in the software, so my suggestion would be to upgrade as soon as you get home.
