In preparation for crysis, im playing through far cry again on Insane (custom mode) and i marvel how amazing this game from 2004 still looks. However, i think now that PCs are powerful enough we can make it look better.

#1) people and vehicles disappear over a certain distance, inhibits my sniping :)

I bet this is an ini setting

#) Maybe use higher res trees all around?

Dont know how to do this

If anyone knows an ini tweak guide (extensive if possible) or any graphical mods that make the game look better on a modern pc?

Disclaimer: im not whining, it looks beautiful and its still so much fun, but hey, if it can look better, all the more.

to add to your interest in making far cry better have you tried the patch provided that adds HDR lighting to the game?

I know if you have a 64bit CPU you can download the 64bit patch, and it does higher the detail.

at times i wish i had a 64bit OS to check out farcry 64 heh. The HDR patch is pretty sweet though

The 64bit patch with improved textures is GORGEOUS. Wasn't there a hack to get it to work on 32bit systems, since the texture patch was separate from the actual 64bit patch?
