Lenses, quality?

How would a better lens affect imaging?
Where could I find examples of photos takes with good lenses as opposed to bad ones?


Are Carl Zeiss lenses good?

What have millimeters to do with photography?

in a proper film camera, the only thing that affects the quality of the picture is the lens and film. the film isnt a huge part of the quality, however, as it by nature has millions and millions of crystals on it. therefore, the only thing left to affect the picture is the lens.

cheap lenses have chromatic abberation, are not sharp, vignette, and have all sorts of things which degrade quality.

in digital slrs, the lens does not matter as *much*, but still does. in a dslr, the cmos/ccd is part of the limiting factor, where it is not quite as capable as film yet

I wouldn't say the lens doesn't matter as much, it's just as important except that image quality is also effected by the sensor.

i totally agree. but remember that most dslrs have a crop factor, so the middle part of the lens is used
