Led's on 1900XT?

Hello i just received my 1900Xt ( made by ATi ) card yesterday,
and i noticed that near the pcie power plug there are two little led's.

I was wondering what they are for?

One says fault " if i remember correctly" so that one probably lights up when there is a problem im assuming?

The other i think said power?,

None of mine are lighting up. So is that a good thing or bad thing? should the power one be lit up?

Well yes it is working, however i want to know if it is supposed to light up.

Because if it is, supposed to ( mine dosent ) i would like to know why.

so if anyone out there with one of these cards could please tell me if their led near pcie plug is lit up, and if so , which led.

No LEDs lighting up on mine and it works fine.

try removing the power cable from the card and powering up. the power led will more than likely come on and you will get a message on the screen saying the power cable isnt connected. i would assume the fault led lights up when the card has a fault?

I agree that the fault LED is common sense.

I dissagree with the power LED being common sense..

If you take a Mother board for example. the LED on most motherboards, comes ON, when everything is OK, which is opposite to what you just stated.

well i was also curious about the switches, however since they seem covered up i figured there was no need to play with them.

I am a little dissapointed however that ati did not specify what these LED's represent and what constitutes normal operation, whether its power LED should be ON , or OFF.

The leds on the card light up when you try to power up the card without the 6 pin power cable. I have done it and seen it. Not sure why ATI did this. Also the switches are to change to PAL settings vs NTSC.

I did not want to try turning this on without the pcie cable.

I really find it backwards to have the LED on when the cable is not plugged in, as its opposite to what most motherboards do.

Its also an awfull shame on Ati to have no documentation shipping with thier boards explaining such things. This information was not listed anywhere in the generic manual that came with my card.

wonder if this is the kind of information they will eventually put up on their FAQ's for this card.

No I remember seeing it printed on my old AGP X800Pro. I am thinking its still the same.
