LED EQ via com

Has anyone done this?
Because every VU meter used as EQ are via lpt

What I want is to connect it inside the case so I won't have to use the DB25 connector
==>It looks pretty bad

easy. you need a LM3915 chip.

it drives 10 LEDs off an audio signal.
the schematic is in the datasheet.

What I want is something to connect to com1 like the project that is connected in the lpt

yes that chip connects to line out, to make a DB meter

COM1 has only 2 data pins, so you cant do it as simple as the LPT one, and there is no software for it.

the closest you will get is a USB to Parallal converter, like this:

which you can connect to the motherboard USB connectors inside of the case

Could probably do one with a microcontroller too. They're so ridiculously cheap these days. Paired with a MAX232, you'd be set.
