I wondering... I want to get 3 LED case fans in red. 2x92mm and 1x80mm... but theres one problem.

1. the connectors for the fans that I see are not the typical Molex connector:

the connectors that ive seen are these such as ones on a CPU heatsink:

and the only place I can connect this little prong is on the motherboard.. and ive got 2 connectors on the mobo available... (1 is taken by my CPU heatsink)

please let me know

best bet is a fan controller, you can find them on newegg for anywhere between 19 and 40 bucks. Most let you connect up to 4 fans with the 3 pin connectors you are talking about, i just did that exact thing (on purpose) to save my molex connectors on the computer im building for my brother. I got 10 of those masscool fans off of newegg for .99 a piece including shipping, plus a half decent fan controller for 19.99, so it worked out pretty good, my bro has plenty of cooling power (and i got extra for other projects) and he has the power to quiet his pc when he doesnt need to push it. Either way if you get new fans or get the controller you are looking at about the same money, so depends i guess, personally molex connected fans are a bitch to wire without getting messy.

So even if I do get 3 fans like the ones I was talking about then ill still be okay to use them with/without a fan controller? ( is the fan controller necessary?)

thanks

Post a link to the fans you want to get.

The fan controler is only used for temperature monitoring purposes if you have such a program running and choose to use it for your fans. I have them on three of my fans and do not use them and have not had a problem at all.

The 80mm says it comes with 3pin and 4 pin with pass through (I assume that is male to female)... and the 92mm has a 4 pin. So you should be able to plug all four fans together and then to one 4 pin on your PSU.

i was saying its only necessary if you need more of those small 3 pin connectors, cuz if you dont have any left to connect them to .. well then you need more right?? I suppose you can also just get new fans with 4pin molex connectors, so if you dont like your current fans. . replace them?? either way works, just whatever is best for you, personally i like having precise control over my fans, helps me sleep at night ;)

well thats kinda what im doin.... im REPLACING my existing case fans and going for 4 blue led...

2x80mm
2x92mm

that was my mistake... I didnt clarify my existing case fans use Molex connectors...
