Leaving OC?

Would it be advisable to leave my cpu @ stock and simply OC it when I feel I want the extra performance for a certain task like straight from 3.0 to 3.5, which it runs stable at or should I just leave the damn thing OC all the time at 3.5.

If it's stable and your not having to go voltage crazy I'd say leave it OC'ed all the time. By the time the chip gives out from any kind of stress you will have probably upgraded it.

If your a gamer theres no way you play the latest games and not upgrade at least yearly.

If you don't game I really fail to see the reason your Oc'ing in the first place. Sure your system would perform better, but there can't be all that much difference between a system running 500MHz faster running MS Office and doing email.

I agree with him. Either OC it and leave it, or don't OC.

Although I don't agree with the whole upgrading at least yearly thing.

Well I think most gamers do upgrade yearly. At least. They may not do a whole new motherboard and CPU every year. I know I do however.

I don't upgrade every year. I upgrade like every 4 years.

300celeron... 3years later P4 1.4ghz oc to 1.9... 1year later 3.0 oc to 3.9
time between my upgrades are decreasing !!!:D

I do some form of upgrade on my computer every 6 months. I buy what ever was hottest 6-9 months before I buy. Call me cheap if you want, but my 2.4c@3.2 is pretty good even with a Ti4600. My most recent purchase is an upgrade to my HTPC shich ended up being a total system build. Only the floppy drive and DVD were transplanted, and the DVD was bought with that intention. Most I've spent in a long time. (P2-400 to another 2.4c). As time goes by though, I'm finding it harder to upgrade since I have to choose which computer gets the upgrade. ;)

My next upgrade might also include another system. I have a pair of P3-933's that I got for free (yes they work too) that I want to build around or I just might sell them. Decent dual S370 boards are too damn expensive to justify (even used). For the going rate on Ebay I can get a new i865 board. Although I did take advantage of the diminishing supply of PC133 recently. Sold 3 sticks of Crucial 256MB for $50 each and only paid $21 for one of them. The other two came with the P3's. :p Boy, I've rambled a little too long...sorry. :)

Oh and on topic. I'd just OC them and go with it. ;)
