hey guys.

I currently running
Intel Core 2 Duo E7600 [O/C @ 4.10Ghz-1.40V]
Gigabyte EP45-DS3R Motherboard
Palit GTX285 1GB GFX [O/C @ 730Core -1628Shader -1430Memory]
4G DDR2 1066Mhz Ram [2G HyperX/2G Patriot-2.3V]

Ive noticed lately that LGA 775 C2Quads have become alot cheaper.
and my E7600 still feels underpowered to most new games.
I play alot of BFBC2, Metro 2033, GTA 4, mainly high powered games.

and i was thinking if it was totaly worth the money on a C2Quad LGA775
or save my money (this will take a while) to replace Cpu/Mobo/Ram (1336Quad/mobo/DDR3Ram)

Ive got enough to purchase a C2Q E8400 and have a few dollers left over. Or even purchase a Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 (If im quick enough)

Sorry if this topic has been covered, i just would like some quick answers and help.

You will see a difference going from dual to quad, so I would say go for the C2Q and save your money. The extreme is not necessary. Keeping the video card the same you won't see a big difference going from a C2Q to an I7.

The games you listed will use the extra 2 cores so i would say go for it.
Unless you see yourself making the i7 switch within the next 6 months or so.
That system will start to show it's age in the newer games coming around the corner, but a quad core should keep you going for quite a while.
If you can find a Q6600 or Q9550 you'll be happy. You might not hit 4Ghz, but at 3.6 my q6600 still feels like a monster of a CPU.

My bad, i meant C2Q Q8400, wich i managed to pick up dirt cheap and new!, made a big improvement on 90% of games i play + programs.

Q8400 - O/C @ 3.4ghz Vcore 1.35 (stays under 55*C with max load), Hopefully make it up to 3.6ghz

Very pleased i made the upgrade (in a budget way). Next step is to save up as much as i can for a new cpu/mobo/ram.
