I have two Dell 24" monitors hooked up to my machine...the thing is, I generally turn my PC off at night, and I turn it on in the morning. The monitors are set to auto-off after four hours...does that affect the overall life of the monitors? I'm concerned that I'm doing more harm than good...

As long as the backlight is off and you don't mind the extra $.30/mo electricity bill, I'd say it's generally better to leave the monitor in its standby state. Pressing the power button on and off every day likely stresses more components.

With their 3 year warranty I doubt it really matters, as 3 years down the road display technology will have gotten so much better you'll probably want something new anyway.

the only thing pressing the power button is stressing more than standby is the plastic for that button.

Agreed. I usually turn mine off a few times a day. Been doing it on my 17 inch FP for over 2 years now and it still works fine.

Sweet, thanks guys. I still remember CRT tubes breaking when turned on/off in quick succession, so with that in mind even new LCDs worry me.

Actually, I was thinking about upgrading to twin 3007FPW's so maybe your 3 year prediction is corret (7900GT has two dual link DVI ports) but it only has ONE FREAKING INPUT. DVI only. That's such crap. I can't use DVI for my computer and component for my PS2, as I have it set up now.

I hope to god they release a version with some other inputs...sorry, unrelated rant but still annoying.

Hey Providence, how does your PS2 work out on the 24" LCD? Everyone keeps talking about scaling problems, jaggies, ghosts, etc. -- are you experiencing that.

i played PS2 fine on my 2405, but it was with component cables rather than composite.

Yeah, it looks great on my 2405. Also using component cables.

I'm hoping when I get my PS3, that it will support 1080p...it should, right? My max resolution is of course abovee 1920x1080...

Anyway, if you can play your PS2 on a Dell 2405FPW, I'd say do it. I don't know if it's perfect, but I can't realistically lodge a complaint.
