The outlet of the Hydor L35 is leaking when I put metal barbs instead of the plastic ones (which i had a bad experience with so I replaced them with metal ones). Is there any way to seal it up without draining and putting more teflon tape on. Some kind of silicone or something? Would it work? Anyonehave experiences with this? Appreciate a response.

Yes, you'll have to take it apart. Better to do it right, than have to mess with it again later.

Not only does teflon tape not seal worth squat, when you screw the barbs in the shard threads cut the tape into tiny sheds that can get into your system and plug stuff up.

Use a putty type thread sealer, generically called 'pipe dope' (seriously). Or use something like a silicon sealer.

Permetex corpration (one of the lagest makers and sellers of most silicone\loctite and sealers we all use) also makes a liquid pipe sealer made with teflon. Works great no problems like regular teflon tape and works just like any liquid silicone sealer or pipe dope does. Can get it in a brush on or tube. But I use it or the pipe dope.
