i posted this a while back, im pretty sure this isnt the final design tho. thats the same box.

btw: you shouldnt steal bandwidth

You know, after seeing this one and the Sparkle with these big ass HSF solutions, it has to make me wonder just how hot this card runs. Also makes me question Asus for going with a single slot solution. So far my favorite is the Asus, but I still question the heat issue with a single slot HSF. I'm looking forward to some real card reviews to come along & answer these questions.

Asus's HSF is double slot for the 6800 Ultra as well. Infact the only difference between Asus's HSF and the reference is that Asus's has a silver/aluminum shroud.

The Photo I've seen looks like it's 2 slots, just remember depending on the angle it can look flatter than it is, and it doesn't take much to obstruct a PCI slot.

Here are two photo's one a preproduction and the other a production board, both are 2 slots the second only looks slightly flatter because of the angle:

and compare that to the reference cooler and it looks identical:

look here yes it is the same design as the reference cooler, just shorter, if that is a dual slot hsf I'll eat my hat.
edit,
Albatron, Asus, Gainward uses 1 slot whereas other company's take 2 slots due to the cooler.
from here

I stand corrected, angles can make it hard to judge these things sometimes and seeing as it looked pretty much like the reference cooler I assumed it was the reference design, but if that site saw it up close live then I trust them.

it is the same as the reference cooler, just shorter. compare the hight to that of a refrerence cooler, it is significantly shorter.
