I'm going to pick one of these up in the next few weesks, and I was curious which one would be a better choice given that there's only $30 dollar difference and that both are now available at local computer stores.

Thanks guys.

I just bought a BFG 6800 OC from futurepowerpc last night, I was also trying to decide between which maker. I ended up choosing the BFG because it was $269, as opposed to the Leadtek being $300 with tax at newegg. So pricewise I guess I went for the cheapest.

The BFG seems to also have a high rate of unlocking the extra pipes. But in that poll not many people voted, so its not too scientific. But I have read other places the new BFG's have been successful, sorry I don't have links, I just read alot of things, in a lot of places before I bought. While reading I think I read that the LeadTeks have a higher rate of success too.

-The Leadtek also has, from what I have read, a better cooler then the BFG.
-The BFG has a lifetime warrenty, I think the leadtek is 2-3 years.
-The BFG is overclocked right out of the box, I won't be over clocking mine, so if it come overclocked it is a plus.

Hope that helped, if I think of more I'll post them.

Leadtek 6800, definitely.

Dude you're gonna love leadtek, it's got this massive heatsink thats so perfect. I've overclocked mine to 410/875 and it gets 63 degrees load with rthdribl, BUT with normal games I get 59 degrees. NO ARTIFACTS at all. And it isn't noisy.

I got mine for 270 from bananapc.com, but they ran out. You can still find them for that price on pricewatch.com. I wouldn't trust any site, bananapc was the most trust worthy, as for the rest, don't know. Oh, GameVE has some for 273.

Heres a picture of it's back side.
Heres a picture of it's top side.
And here's a picture of my beautifuly overclocked comptuer with the leadtek 6800.

What about Leadtek's attempt to put slower memory chips and doing some modifications to save costs from the few threads i read ?

IMHO, get the BFG... lifetime warranty is the best deal you can get ;)

Nothing wrong with mine. My friend has a BFG and ours are identical except he's got a sucky heat sink on his and I have a really good one on mine which lets me OC much more at lower temps so I don't get artifacts.

Or.

You could just get both (what I am doing)

Found the BFG at frys for 249.99

and the Leadtek from newegg(sez referb then sez -retail?) for 250.00

I'm going to try and softmod both of them and see which one gives me more

IN addition, you might want to head over to guru3d.com and hit the rivatuner portion of their forums. A lot of talk is happening over the 6800NU, hope that helps

to be honest, the bfg has the better cooler, but it doesnt make contact with the ram, and instead the ram is touched by a thermal pad that is eccesively thick. the leadtek uses 2.0 ns ram on there card as opposed to 2.2 like all others, i owned both cards, and the leadtek overclocked much better, but be aware, the leadtek has a large plate on the back appearing to be copper but its just alluminum and painted that color. the fans on the bfg are spun down after driver load and are loud. the leadtek is quieter and has a filter on it and the sinks make contact with the ram chips allowing artic silver 5 to be applied

go with the leadtek

O BTW, the 16 pipes and extra vertex shader opened on the leadtek and it clocked to 380/895, and the bfg opened 16 pipes, no vertex shaders opened and if you oc it, the comp just restarts...
