Leadtek 6800 Ultra temps...

The Load temps on my 2 leadtek 6800 ultras in an a8n-sli and a lian li v-1000 are 85 and 73, and my idle temps are 56 and 64......

Are these too hot, and if so, what can I do to cool them down.... If I seated a 120mm fan on a fan bracker blowing air across them would that make a difference?

Is 85C too hot for an ultra?

85 does seem a little high, but I think the core slow down temp is around 140ish Cel. Atleast on my 6600gtoc it is. having an sli setup, I am sure with both bard on top of eachother they get a lot hotter. A nice side fan would be good too.
 
thanks very much, but how should I mount this and how far away...?
I mean should it be blowing from the side (i.e. the fan is facing the sli connector),
or should it be blowing from one end?
also bearing in mind that the leadteks fans are in the middle....
also, a case fan sucks or blows from directly in front right, so how does a graphics fan work? from the side?
Well thanks for your help, I am just wondering how I should do this and what I should use..... sound is an issue as I am not ocing, and this is why I got the leadteks as they are quieter and cool better.... I think that it is more the fact that they are in SLI, and due to the lian li having no fans near them...
I mean the top card is at around 70.....

no there not that much better than stock cooling, but there are other advantages..like it blows hot air out the back and not into you case.. + a Nvslinecer will help your top card breath a little better.

Of coruse so will a side fan blowing over both cards.....witch is way cheaper. And your cards have those massive leadtek sinks, they probley jsut need some more air.



not that 85c is going to kill the card or anything... I presonally wouldnt worry about it.
 
would a vantec spectrum fan card blowing across from them do it?
it wont fit between the sli cards...

Really any extra air on the cards will help, but your best best is a hole int eh side with a fan on it. Drawing outside air in on the GPUs...
 
Yeah, 85 is pretty high with the Leadtek card, especially since it has that giant all copper heat sink. I've got the GT version myself, and was having some temp problems until recently.

This was entirely my cases fault, lots of fans yet crappy wire management and poor airflow. What case are you using, and what are your system and proc temps like?

My solution (with an X-Dreamer) was to mount a 120mm fan, occupying 3 of the 5.25" drive bays, as well as some serious cable management, new cpu heatsink, etc. Dropped from 45 to 25 on the processor idle temp (3200 winchester), and from 65 to 44 on the Leadtek 6800GT.

If you find a way to drown that card in fresh air, the stock heatsink is certainly good enough. I'd only go for the silencer if you want to cut down on case noise.
 
i am using a lian li v-1000, and the top card is fine, but it is the bottom card that is getting very toasty, even with an a8n-sli with two slots....
I just bought to vantec spectrum fan cards to see if that makes a difference
