Hey everyone,
I am ordering my first LCD, a 2005fpw. The question I have is about delivery. When I expect my screen to be ariving, the outside temp. will be in the low 40's. Will it be ok for the screen to sit on my front steps for a few hours untill I get home, or should I have it delivered to another location where it can be recieved? Also, I have a 5600 256mb video card, which I susspect will not run CSS on native rez. I dont want to get a top of the line card now due to the fact I plan on a full system upgrade in about a year. I was wondering how a 6600gt would perform at 1680x1050 with minimal amounts of aa/af?

it depends on what you're playing and the rest of your system specs. I wouldn't get a 6600GT if you're wanting hl2 or doom3 at the native res. A 6800GT would treat you alot better. Older games shouldn't be a problem though.

edit: oh i didn't answer the main question, it should be ok, just make sure its warmed back up before using it. I've never heard of a screen freezing, but I've never tried it before.

Umm whats your address so I can check for you.. ;) Should be just fine.
Heh, I was going to say the same thing.

And I largely agree with Imitations comments on the video card. The way I see it is you'd be spending 200 dollars for a card that will barely get you by. If I were you I would keep your video card and simply run the game near or at whatever you run it at now. The popular opinion of the distortion associated with scaled LCDs is, in my opinion, overstated and too severe. And I personally find the Dell 2001FP and 2005FPW to do a very good job of scaling to lower resolutions. So if sticking with that disadvantage now allows you to better spend your money later, I'd definitely go for it. It will also make your later upgrade just that much more profound when you do end up putting down the cash.
