lcds analog and dvi, help!

why is that the extra features on dvi lcds like color adjustment and all the other ones, can't be modified when you using dvi but only in analog mode?
 
DVI gives a true image the analog does not.

Im borrowing a Spyder tomorrow to get my colors perfect.
 
Since the original question seems to have been answered, I'm going to take this thread on a slightly different, albeit related, tangent. Some of my text on my Samsung 930B LCD has a slight red tint/flare on the left edge of must of my text. Could this be due to my using an Analog VGA cable instead of a DVI cable? If so, does the 'quality' of DVI cable matter, or would a simple $20 newegg cable do fine?
