I been looking to get a new monitor.
i been looking at lcds.
and i saw that some lcd have dvi,
and my friend told me that dvi is better for gameing.
plus i have areally good video card,
gt 6800 card so will the dvi be better then a crt
 
DVI is a connection method, not a monitor type. It allows for better image clarity than the standard analog connector (the blue thing that hooks up to your video card.) It's absolutely better for gaming, because it produces a better image.
 
is there any ghosting useing the dvi cables???
the guy at the pc show told me and my friend that.
with the dvi hook up u dont see any ghosting

depends on how well made the LCD is and the response time.
 
I'm not a DVI expert or anything, but I don't see how it would eliminate ghosting. DVI is just a better connection between your video card and monitor. It improves image quality. It's the same effect as using component cables to hook an Xbox up to a TV instead of the standard composite cables.

Ghosting depends on the monitor's response time. It's also highly subjective: I have a 25ms LCD, and see absolutely no ghosting. Meanwhile, there are people with 16ms and 12ms monitors that complain about ghosting.

Your close..component cables are still analog, DVI-D which is what most computer users use is a digital signal to the monitor. ;)

The rest of what you said is dead on though :D
 
Well, I just used the component versus composite deal as an example of how DVI is just a higher-quality connector, rather than something that improves response times.

DVI prob would not help much in ghosting. But it helps with color and text sharpness..
 
dvi isnt specifically better for gaming, its just a little better in general. for most people its worth the extra $50 or whatever it costs to get DVI over an lcd that doesnt have it.
