Just a simple poll here... wondering who's using what and if you've noticed a difference between the two on your monitor.

Me, I'm on a BenQ FP91G+ running DVI. I haven't tried analog, but I love the way this looks. I came from a good 19" CRT running analog of course...

Poll for LCD users only please!!!

(only because i know there are a couple CRT's out there that do use DVI, however weird they may be... just interested in LCDs!)

I use a CRT, but my mom's ancient 15" 1024x768 lcd uses analog, so I voted analog. The new lcds in the one computer class I have at school also use analog, so technically that should be 2 votes. (They were SUPPOSED to be dvi, but some bozo ordered the wrong kind.)

If you use both, are they hooked up simultaneously, or can you only plug in one connection at a time? DVI from the video card to the monitor, and the VGA from the motherboard to the analog input at the monitor simultaneously?

DVI. There's no reason not to use it unless your video card doesn't support it. ;)

Well like I said, I use DVI.

But at school in our geography labs all the PCs have Viewsonic LCDs (17") and they're all on analog. I do know that I love my home monitor waaaay more than those setups there at the lab...

To those who have BOTH inputs on their monitor, have you tried both?

I use analog because my KVM switch doesn't have support DVI. I got KVM cables with ferrite cores so the difference is as small as possible.

DVI

My CRT had it, but never used it. Soon as I got my LCD, I went to DVI.

umm yeah vga, my 17in no name lcd only has vga. Cheap but i gotta use a dvi-vga adaptor on my 68gt

Some monitors default to DVI if there's a digital signal, some monitors let you switch between the inputs. Mine let me switch.

Thanks for confirming. The NEC 20WGMX2 doesn't do 1:1 scaling in DVI with an ATI card, so the user has to switch to Analog when the need arises.

2x dvi , funny thing is analog doesn't look all that bad on newer monitors but DVI is still noticeably better

Both.
2 - 19" Starlogics (hey, they were cheap) :)
dvi on left, analog on right. Both running @ 1280 x 1024 off an ATI 9700tx. You can barely tell the difference between them.

Computer is in closet, my DVI cables doesn't reach. Its not my main computer so I dont mind the lesser IQ, but I do definently notice (not completely centered, fuzzier)

Main system I run DVI because that is all the monitor has(apple 23 inch lcd). My secondary monitor that I use for cust machines for the most part uses vga because that is what there machines have. I did make sure it has DVI(hyundai l90+) incase I ever use it for my own stuff. Also every once in a while I have a machine where they are using dvi. Wish the 360 would use the dvi so I wouldn't have to keep swaping cables on the back.

Analog for me, TripleHead2Go doesn't do DVI : /
Once I upgrade my setup (I keep pushing this back) I'll switch between the two, analog with the th2g when I want to use sli with all 3, dvi when I'm doing desktop things.

My 20" LG L204WT has the analogue connected to my desktop system, and the DVI to my Macbook (as primary display for the Macbook). My Dell 2405 is hooked up to the desktop with DVI, making the LG the secondary display.

If you want a good clear picture there is only one way to go DVI... I tried both on mine just to see the difference and it is night and day. Systems below!
